It's 1:30 in the morning and I am timeshare blogging.

Right now, I need input. Here is what I need:

    1) Questions for a Bluegreen FAQ. Please post questions that you think are important or you would like to see answered. This I can start compiling right away since this message board format is perfect for that type of information.

    2) Topics for broader discussion and/or description. An example would be exchanging. Bluegreen is a fantastic ownership for exchanging. We should have a whole topic dedicated to this subject. Post your desired topic and include some ideas for what needs to be included.

Please refrain from answering questions on this thread. The purpose of this thread is to collect questions and topics for a knowledge base. If answers or off topic posts are made, I will move those off topic posts to their own separate threads.

    Thanks. This should be fun.
Boy I would love a couple of hours at a bar to pick your brain about the inner workings of BG. Here are some meandering thoughts:

What would you say the chances are of The Diamond resorts takeover going through. What will be the consequences for BG if it does go through/doesn't go through.

How about a thread dedicated solely to the website specifically. I think it is a great website. Not perfect, but visually great.

The new BG Wilderness Club at Long Creek. Wow. Will probably be the jewel in the crown for the entire system. But what's with the lame pictures on the website. 5 pictues, 2 of them of the muddy river, and 3 of them basically the same of the outside. Love those garage doors. If they are asking 54,000 pts for a week, wouldn't people want to see the inside. Just a thought. (I have already emailed them alerting them. )

Why do people even bother listing resales of their BG ownership on ebay for just slightly less than they bought them. Like 10,000 annual points for $14,000. In between similar listings for about 1/5 the price. I guess they don't get it.

    that's it

love your work, and am checking out your website,

    TJ

      Creating a BG Knowledge base

How about some information that is not technical, maybe but very useful. I am thinking about an events list that will tell of known annual events at BG Resort cities and their times of the year. Some may be looking for certain events, but some may want to avoid events. This is maybe too simple for Boca to work on, but does anyone else have any interest in this type of information?

Most people, until they have joined a group like this, have no clue about the low value of their points in the resale market AND that BG won't take them back unless you upgrade. Through this and the Yahoo group we have "counselled" many people in that exact position. Some people when putting anything on E-bay do not first do their homework to find out what the market will bear. Hence, they go by what they paid for it, assuming that would be its value--which we all did at one point or another IF we bought from the developer.

Also, there is a group timesharesbyowner who puts things on Ebay for enormous prices. They are often the ones that call us and ask us about selling or renting our timeshare for us. They called me and I gave them a very quick earful because I don't like being interrupted by telemarketers and because their company is a scam--takes people's money up front and then does NOTHING, which I told her and then I added, "And anything you have on Ebay is always overpriced and never sells." She then told me that the reason for that is because they "have to" put it up for sale for the price the owner wants............................and I am adding now that they obviously don't advise as to how cheaply they need to sell their points for in order to sell them.

What bothers me more, though, are the huge fees/costs that those companies add onto the winning bid. You usually have to scroll way down to the bottom to see those.........................that can really drive your price per point up.

If I didn't know any better (because of these groups) and I wanted to sell my points and do so on Ebay, I think I would do my research on SOLD BG points and see how much they were going for. Step 2: I would be aghast. Step 3: I would try to set up MY points auction for much closer to the amount I paid for it even having seen that isn't going to work! Step 4: My points would not sell and I would be frustrated. Step 5: hire a place like timesharesbyowner to sell my points, giving them money up front, on a promise that they will sell my points and get me what I want out of them AND never hear from them ever again. Step 6: find Boca and have him sell my points OR Step 6: find this group or another and learn how to be a happy BG owner!!!!!

Ignorance in timesharing is definitely NOT bliss!!!!!

I think this would be great and maybe this could be one of the suggestions someone going to the annual meeting could request during the Q&A period, if they have one, like they did last year.

I also agree that this is an excellent idea. Had I not done a lot of my own research, I would have never know about the seafood fest in St. Augustine last March when we were there. Some kind of link on the BG site to the Chamber of Comm. would be helpful.

When we go to a resort, we seldom go to sit in the resort, we explore the area and try to partake in the local culture. A listing like that would be great. But at the same time, show the other side...avoid going on bike week if you are not one to enjoy bike week.
