new potential owner
I just puchased a bridge to ownership from The Falls Village in Branson, MO. I also stopped by Big Cedar to check out the accomodations while in MO and was very impressed. Any advice for someone considering buying into the program? What I was offered was $10,000 one time cost for 4,000 points per year with about $250 (I think, don't have the paperwork in front of me) upkeep fees. Just fishing for any comments on membership/benifits/etc. In other words ... is the program worth it?

I think you would find a lot of really nice places to stay with Bluegreen, but I think your money is better spent by buying points resale and not from the sales offices. Send a private message to Boca (you can find posts from him in this thread). He has connections and get get you a better price per point. I would also suggest going for more points, probably 8-10,000. All 4000 points would get your at Big Cedar is a 1 bedroom in white, or a studio in red.Don

Anyway, what do you mean by a "bridge to ownership"??????? I have never heard of this before.

vintner, swirg,
Thanks for the advice. I'm new to timeshares and am in the process of educating myself so any advice or information is greatly appreciated. As far as the bridge to ownership, it's basically a purchase of 9,000 points to use this year with no obligation of ownership at the end of '09, but if I decide that I want to purchase a points package any unused points I have will roll over and half of the price I paid for the 9,000 points will count towards puchase of the package. It's basically a "try before buy" deal. It's got some limitations though, for instance I can't use the points for June, July, Aug. or for any holiday or the day before and after any holiday, but I'll plan around that. The bridge to ownership was offered after my wife and I endured the 2 hours sales pitch and heavy pressure to purchase a points package. Basically the bridge offer didn't surface until we made it clear that we were not about to make the decision to drop 10 grand with only a few hours to consider the deal and everything it involves. We liked what we were hearing about the plan, but are extremely skeptical.

Bridge to Ownership = Sampler Package
Okay................is this what Bluegreen called it? A bridge to ownership? This has always been known as the Sampler Package, unless you are an owner already then it is called the Equity Builder.
You have made the best decision. You can get an idea of how many points you might like to have that will work for your situation. You will now or have already learned about the cost of points resale versus from the developer. Lots of folks find that information after they are past their rescission period after having bought from the developer at the high prices.
Enjoy these points and look toward Pinnacle Vacations for buying resale points OR buy other resale points that are not qualified points and eventually buy qualified points from Pinnacle to make all of your points qualified.

Welcome Okie and Happy New Year!
First, you have made the smartest move by joining this group. Now, spend several hours reviewing past posts to learn as much as you can about the program.
After you have done this and are convinced you want to join the club. Look at all of the resorts and answer these questions:
1. What resorts do you think you will want to visit?
2. How many bedrooms will you need?
3. What time of the year are you able to travel?
Once you can answer these questions, just start a thread asking for Boca's help and he will send you a private message and get you what you need. He is honest and knows the Bluegreen system better than Bluegreen employees. Best yet, he can get you the best deal and get you all the benefits.
I have been a BG owner 4 years and it is the best decision I have made for myself and my family. However, be warned. Timesharing is much like eating a potato chip...once you start, it is very difficult to stop.
I wish you the best of luck.

Bluegreen Points Question
Hi. My husband and I just purchased 6,000 annual bluegreen points at Wilderness Club near Branson, MO. We have visited this resort several times, purchased a sampler that we used and now would like to purchase more points from an individual rather than from bluegreen. A couple of questions:
1. Will buying points from another resort effect us at Wilderness Club? The salespeople told us that if we purchase points from another resort we won't have preference with Wilderness Club when we book vacations.
2. Will purchasing from an individual effect our ownership? The salespeople indicated that we couldn't use "aftermarket" points toward a bronze, silver or gold membership.
Although I love the resort and we're glad we purchased points, I'm not always sure what to believe.
Thanks so much.

Question number 2 is partially true and false. Buying resale points don't impact your current ownership. If you buy points from an authorized reseller, they will count toward Premier.

Multiple Timeshares/Combining Points
I am considering purchasing at least two Bluegreen Resort timeshares at Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri on the secondary market. It seems less expensive to buy two in order to accumulate the desired amount of vacation points. My question is can the points be combined so I can use them for one stay?

New owner....but for how long who knows.....
Signed at Big Cedar, and I would not mind if the decision was all my own. Good, bad or indifferent, I will service this purchase. Bad news is, I joined with my Father, and I do not want him to suffer any kind of bad experience. I need some help here. Could someone summize this "ownership" for me? I looked at some resorts at Myrtle Beach, and the points we purchased would not go far there unless you use bonus points for the weekends. Is this the norm? Is availability a problem? Sorry for the non-descript post, but it is a clear representation of my understanding at this pont. Please help!!!!

I hope you did not buy through BlueGreen at Big Cedar. We had a real horror story dealing with the people at Big Cedar. They lied to us, intimidated us and refused to honor a contract we had signed and notorized. I would not buy a plug nickle from them!! If you want to buy see Bocabum he will give you straight honest answers and a GREAT price(Jim doesn't pay me to say good things about him). You WILL have trouble getting into Myrtle Beach in the summer if you wait till less than 8 weeks before to make reservations. We have the 1st week in August and wanted to get a 2nd reservation for family. NO way bonus time or not. What we ended up for our "week" at Harbour Lights is piecing together reservations to make a week and that was 3-4 months before, at least. With any timeshare place in late June to August you must make reservations at least 6 months ahead if you want to have certainty about being able to go where you want, when you want and the size place you want. We have used bonus time in Blue & White season to save points in the past. Now we are Gold and have plenty of points(upgraded about 4x). If you are in the 10 day or 48 hour rescind do it immediately...then go directly to BocaBum. You have to learn the Bluegreen system, I have sometimes the hard way. This forum is helpful and would encourage you to look also in TUG. We enjoy the options that Bluegreen offers. But most of what the sales people tell you would be better to fertilize your garden. Bluegreen does have a lot to offer...you just don't have to buy and pay the awful rate they charge to enjoy.
