I am new to the time share game, years ago I got scammed in Mexico... Hoping to be more knowledgeable this time around. I recently bought a Bluegreen timeshare deeded at Paradise Point (close to Big Cedar) I am learning I could probably have gotten a better deal in the resale arena, I have two days left on my rescind and I was looking for some opinions, I like the extra perks you get from the developer, however I've also read that if you go through an authorized reseller that they will still qualify... Here's what I got. 15,000 points, Charter benefits, travelers plus, bronze vip status for $1.43 per point... What are some opionions?

Rescind. You can always buy it again later thru bocabum.

I am new to BlueGreen (past the rescind point) so I figure I might as well learn to use it and get some use out of it.

How many points are really optimal to have to be able to vacation every other year for a week?

How many points are a good number to have to be able to use RCI effectively?

I see BocaBum created this thread and many others about blue green.... but I also see that he hasn't posted in a long time. He appears to be super knowledgable about everything bluegreen...did he leave the forums ?

His business is booming so he hasn't been back in a while but we do have other members here in our community that are Bluegreen experts as well as industry insiders that come and post here often.

thanks for the update chris being such a new user - I have been nothing but impressed with the knowledge and helpfulness of everyone so far ! I was just curious bc he seemed to be such a tremendous presence on the forums (when looking at old threads) and then he just stopped posting over a year ago.

He's still involved with selling and renting Bluegreen but I guess he's too busy to answer questions anymore.
Besides we have lots of bluegreen owners here so they can help you with pretty much anything you need to know.
I own Bluegreen but not in points so my ownership works different than most BG owners.
I let the pros on points answer those questions.
Grayfal is a big points owner so she knows what she's talking about.

There are other BG groups out there on yahoo and Facebook but they focus on using the club and
rarely talk much about trading thru RCI and II. Since this forum is for all sorts of timeshare
ownerships you get a much more well rounded answer to how to maximize your usage here IMO.

I've owned BG for just about 10 years now and am just starting to dabble in the exchange side of things. We've loved all of our BG stays but thought we'd finally start trying for RCI places. I've learned so much from these forums already that I never knew...can't wait to learn more !

Seems to me that happens a lot on Internet forums. People get burned out and move on, or they post a lot when things in their life are slow and quit posting when things get busy. Following a board and posting that much takes a lot of time and energy. Happily, the info is still there for people new to Bluegreen, so long as you keep track of the changes since then. I think the only major changes since Boca was an active poster is the new charge for rolling over points at the end of the first use year. The change before that I remember is that it can be tricky combining E points for some reason, but I'm pretty sure there's a Boca post on that somewhere.

The last unless you count raises to the yearly fees as a "change" that is.

                            Thru BG.
It's supposed to stop the mega renters from hogging up all the desirable reservations like was happening at Big Cedar.
Unfortunately it also pissed off the mega owners who actually use their BG points to reserve multiple units for larger family trips.
They fixed one problem and created another.

I believe it's 10 reservations at any one time. Once one of the 10 drops off, you can make another.

Please click the link below to read a "quick start guide" to the rules of the Bluegreen Vacation Club. This roadmap will better assist you in maximizing your ownership as well as make the vacation process easier and quicker.

"To give all members fair access to available inventory, a maximum of 100 advance reservations (or 500 nights), with no more than 10 reservations in a single destination or region (see page
8), may be confirmed and/or pending at any given point in time. Should you exceed the maximum reservation or nightly allowance, reservations will automatically be canceled on your behalf to bring you into compliance. The standard administration fees may apply"

this is is also where you would find the regions.
