  • Some Benefits of the Bluegreen Vacation Club

I thought I would start this forum out by describing some of the benefits of the Bluegreen Vacation Club.

Here are some the things I like most about it:

    1) Bluegreen allows you to book your own week for deposit into RCI or II. Most point systems do not allow you to do this, which limits your trading power. You can book week 26 or 27 in Myrtle Beach or The Suites at Hershey or a Big Cedar 2 bedroom cabin and deposit it. You can book FantasyFest week in Marathon and deposit it. Bluegreen also has several 5* II resorts that you can book and deposit there including the Lodge Alley Inn or Falls Village. I haven't tried it yet, but I am pretty sure that SFX will take many Bluegreen resorts as well.

    2) You can rent any of your reserved weeks. Rather than depositing many of the above resorts, you will probably do better renting them. Bluegreen has a very active rental program. As always, there are limits to it that makes it better to rent on your own. For VIP preferred members (20k and 35k points), they allow you to pay your maintenance fees with your points for a very favorable rate. Imagine having enough points so you never have to pay maintenance fees again and still have points left over to use. That's a great feature.

    3) Bluegreen does bonus time right. For check in less than 45-days, you can rent from Bluegreen bonus time for available resorts. You can get a studio unit for $39, a 1 br unit for $49/night, a 2 bedroom units for $59/night and a 3 br unit for $69.

    4) This next point is extremely important to me. At many resorts, you can choose an oceanfront room. You can do it since many resorts have specific point values for Oceanfront so you are guaranteed it. At others, the reservation person will tell you the room assignment before you book.

    5) NO EXCHANGE FEES for booking Bluegreen Vacation Club resorts. NO Reservation fee either. There is a cancellation fee if you are not a preferred member.

    6) Relatively low maintenance fees. Bluegreen has a maintenance fee program that provides huge incentives to own more points. A 2 bedroom unit would cost you between $270-540 in maintenance fees for peak season. Imagine getting a 2 bedroom Cabin unit at Big Cedar during July 4th week for about $500 in maitenance fees.

    7) If you are a member of RCI Points, you can reserve weeks with high RCI point value and deposit them. The cost is around $.005/point. At that rate, it's cost effective to use RCI points for airfares.

    Flexibility

I love bluegreen's flexibility. The idea that you don't have to spend full weeks and you can stretch your points by staying during the middle of the week makes my bluegreen points go further. The thing I really like about vacations is spending them with people I enjoy. Will Bluegreen I can reserve multiple units and take a large group to a resort and we can all enjoy each others. If my guests haven't taken the Bluegreen sales tours previously they can take the tours and get some freebees and I get credit on my encore rewards program. So far three of my guests have decided to become bluegreen members themselves.

Now it's time for me to get some

So you can use your points to book several units during the same time frame? thus allowing your friends or family members to travel with you?

Absolutely!! Let me give you an example.

Red season at Shorecrest I is Spring and Fall and that is my favorite time to go there. That is Myrtle Beach. During this time a 2 bedroom oceanfront is is only 725 points per night Monday thru Thursday. So a 4 night stay is 2900 points. If two couples share a unit each having their own bedroom and bath than each couple pays me $150.00 for 4 nights. Where else could they get 4 nights for $150.00? Each unit nets me $300.00. 4 units cost me 11,300 points and my income is $1200.00. My maintenance fees on that amount of points is about $360.00 so I make a nice profit.

Assuming the 8 couples are all folks who like to have fun together we all have a great time, they get a good deal, and I make money. Now here is the real kicker. Let's say that 4 of those couples are qualified referrals and they take the tour. Now that I'm Platinum I get $400.00 in encore rewards for my maintenance fees and each of those referrals collects as check for $100.00. Those that take the tour just got 4 nights for $50.00.

I introduced my cousin to this scheme about 3 years ago. We share a group of 74 first cousins. She is now a gold owner and has 11 units booked at Shorecrest I this coming September. This is her 2nd year to do it.

No wonder I love bluegreen. Now that they have introduced the new primier program it's even better.

          BlueGreen question

If I were to purchase resale BG points, would that limit any member benefits (like with Wyndham resale points )?

Only if you do not make your purchase from an authorized reseller. Send me a private message and I will explain to you what is involved and the slight differences in how it takes place.

Can I get more explanation of using points for deposit? I own bluegreen plus a small lot of RCI points, so I have both a weeks and a points membership with RCI. How can I find out which resorts and weeks are worth higher points in RCI?

              Thanks!

                bluegreen question?

                Hi,
hoping you can help... I bought 2 10,000 pt BG resale properties and paid an extra fee to PInnacle to be a silver member which all worked out great. problem is everytime we go to an owners meeting the sales people give us a hard time since the people we bought the properties from are still on their paperwork. It is an absolute nightmare...... They keep trying to get us to buy more points so they can "clear up the paperwork". Why can't they just enter the right info. on their end since the BG title people have our names on the deeds????? We finally caved in and bought some points, at $2.10 pr point which hurts since I bought all the other points at $0.50 per point. Whats the deal?????

I think we were gold when we went to an update meeting, and the sales guy had only printed part of the report so they had us at only silver. When I asked him how many points we had, he gave us a number that was very low. He had to go back, reprint and get the full information.

I have a hunch (IMHO) that old information stays on the account, as it is on the deed to your house. They may not be reading it correctly, or it is slower to be updated.

I doubt there was a problem at all. Are you still within your cancellation period?

Because the sales people are not very well trained.
