When buying on eBay, you need to watch out for hidden fees. To close a Bluegreen transaction that does not receive bonus time or preferred owner benefits, the closing fee should just be $225. And, you should NOT reimburse for annual dues of $115 plus sales tax because that is billed directly to the owner by Bluegreen. If you pay it to the seller, you will be charged again.

Lastly, some eBay sellers do a flip purchase. That means they find a seller, agree to a price. Then, they list it on eBay to find the buyer. Then, they open escrow to close. What happens is a double closing. Once from the seller into the name of the ebayer. Then, from the eBayer to you. That takes twice as long to close. It can take 4-6 months to close. That is painful, especially when you aren't getting developer benefits.

If you are interested in alternatives to eBay and would like developer benefits. Let me know. I can tell you the options for getting it for a relatively good deal.

Jim are you saying here that points purchased on Ebay are not eligible for bonus time, etc.?

That is correct. You must purchase them from Bluegreen or a Bluegreen authorized reseller. If you are interested in getting bonus time or such benefits, send me a pm and I'll show you how to get them.

We've been reading about the preferred benefit, we've discovered that we need to buy points from an authorized reseller to get the preferred benefits. Is there anything we can do to salvage points purchased from eBay? Do we have to start over?

Contact Boca Bum directly by clicking on his name. You can send him an email or a private message on this forum. He will contact you. He has great knowledge and can speak to you specifically.

            Thanks for the suggestion, Mike.

Boca Bum seems to be highly regarded by the forum members. He's a reseller, and I wouldn't feel comfortable contacting him privately until we're considering a points purchase. We'll follow your suggestion to contact him then.

We didn't fall for the expensive Developer pitch, but bought the one-year trial package. Then we found cheap points on eBay. Now we've found Timeshare Forums. Maybe not the best order.

The sampler you purchased is a great way to get into BG. You have done things in a great way/order! I would also encourage you to join our BG Yahoo Group. Much information will be duplicated in both but it doesn't hurt. I have just recently started posting on this forum, even though I have been a member for a few years, since they started the BG side of this forum.

Unlike many others of us, you did not give BG a bunch of money to become an owner!

Feel free to contact Boca, privately, even just for information. He does not mind. The whole idea of service is that if you do a good job giving informaiton and service to a potential client, when they are ready to make a purchase, they will go to this person who has serviced them and been honest and reputable to them.

We have a strict policy that we don't make expensive purchased under pressure. If we lose out on a deal, then it wasn't meant to be. That doesn't happen often.

                That's what my husband said.
We've "talked" to Boca Bum, and you're right... he didn't mind.

Oh... and we found the Yahoo forum.

We just purchased 8000 pts yesterday from BG in Myrtle Beach. Then today I see the same amount of points on sale online from Timeshares: Save on timeshare resales - Up to 60% off retail for almost nothing. Did I get screwed or would I be getting screwed if I bought from them. It makes me wonder how they are selling that cheaply. Any advice?

I'm not sure what this has to do with preferred owner benefits but you should have the option of canceling that purchase. You make want to take a close look at your contract.

                      Glad You Came Here, Too!

                      Hi Bob,

I'm glad you found this forum as well. Here I am again (to haunt you)!!!! You know my advice from the yahoo group but it seems you have changed your tune a bit here............not looking for reassurance that you made a great purchase but maybe that you didn't make a great purchase. As I have said preivously in the other group, you bought a great product; you just bought at the wrong place! But you didn't know. But now you DO know! And for 1/3 the cost of what you paid to BG, maybe you can pay with cash and not even have to worry about a loan! In addition to the 2/3 you save, you also save on all that interest!

                      Susan

Platinum membership / MF points. Since is just came out June 26, 2008 is there an update on the benefits? Especially paying the MF / club fees with points? Inquiring minds and all.

It even includes a link to a chart to show how much it takes in points to pay a certain dollar amount of maintenance fees, when paying maintenance fees with points.

Bonus time is still listed at the same rates, with patio homes not showing. And the premier benefits chart doesn't show that certain levels get a bonus time discount.
