  • What are your favorite Bluegreen Resorts?

I'd like to start a list of everyone's favorite Bluegreen resorts. Mine is Solara Surfside. It's my favorite because it is very close to my home and I can get bonus time in a 2 bedroom Oceanfront unit quite frequently. I just booked a weekend in April to do just that. And, that 2 bedroom unit is $59/night.

The unit is 1747 sqft in size and right on the Ocean in North Miami Beach.

The resort was taken over by Bluegreen and completely renovated from floor to ceiling. So, the furnishings are excellent.

It is a small resort and does not have a lot of resort amenities. But, I don't mind that at all. I just enjoy sitting on the balcony in the mornings drinking my coffee and listening to the surf.

The other draw back to this resort is that you need to get into your car to get food. There are a ton of take out menus in the lobby that deliver. And, you can always cook your own meals.

For me, nothing beats an Oceanfront unit with nice furnishings.

    Shenandoah Crossing

Wow, what a tough choice. We have only been to 6 different BG resorts and we enjoyed them all but the uniqueness and seclusion of Shenandoah Crossing made it very enjoyable.

We have six children so we rented two 2 Bedroom cabins about a week before our visit last August. (Being relatively new to Bluegreen we were limited by our selection this late in the summer so we were happy to find availablity. Besides Sometimes those last minute vacations are exciting). We only stayed 4 days but we really got the most out of those days. The cabins are what you would expect (not real fancy but functional). but all the other activities made it worthwhile. We were able to go horseback riding, minigolf, tennis, basketball, they had a nice big gameroom and lots of little kid activites when it rained. Within an hour's drive there is Monticello ( Thomas Jefferson's estate) and James Madison's estate as well as many other historical points of interest.

Above all is the beuty of the area and the resort itself. The rolling hills on which it is situated and the white fence surrounding the horse pastures is very scenic and looks like it belongs on a post card.

Oh and not to be forgotten, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

May the Wind Always Be at your Back

      I'm with Boca

Solara Surfside is my favorite so far...I just booked Easter Weekend actually. (Only a one-bedroom though)

Marathon and Hershey are close seconds.

        Shorecrest I

My favorite Bluegreen resort is Shorecrest I even though it is getting older.

It was my first timeshare purchase, and it is the resort closest to me. I love waking up there and walking the beach or watching the sun come up from the balcony or the moon rise when there is a full moon. My favorite time to visit is September or October after the kids go back to school.

Boca Bum I want to thank you for starting this and for pulling together all this information.

Other Bluegreen resorts that I have visited are:

        Big Cedar in Missouri
        The Falls In Missouri
        Laurel Crest in Pigeon Forge
        Lodge Alley in SC
        The Fountains in Orlando
The Landmark in Panama City Beach
        Ocean Towers Panama City Beach
        The Panama City Beach Club
Paradise Isle Resort in Gulf Shores, Alabama
Casa del Mar Ormond Beach, Florida

Christmas Mountain Village and the Fountains

I live in suburban Chicago and visit Christmas Mountain Village at least once or twice a year in the summer. This resort has everything! Mini golf for the kids, paddleboats, golf, bingo at the clubhouse, and indoor pool and several outdoor pools, great barbeques for lunch at the clubhouse, arts and crafts, decent food at Mulligan's restaurant, and a campfire on Sunday nights, complete with marshmallows on sticks!

We've stayed in a 3-bedroom townhouse, which was great. Also in the Timbers, and the cottages (small but clean and big enough for four, tight with six).

We also visited the Fountains in Orlando over Christmas. The units are luxurious, and the clubhouse was great. The only timeshare that I know of in Orlando with an indoor pool, which was great because it was too cold to swim outside. A sauna, a steam room, a teen room, a coffee bar, a restaurant, and a great location on International Drive.

I haven't been to many other Bluegreen properties, but I'm looking forward to it.

Big Cedar for the resort itself (one of the best in the industry) and Hammock at Marathon for its location in middle key (out of 11 total). The only problem for me is both are two far for easy drive.

Wow, I've liked all the the Bluegreen resorts we have stayed in. But, I think as far as the unit itself, it has to be Mountain Run at Boyne. Beautiful....and northern Michigan was such a wonderful vacation destination. That is one place I would have never even thought to vacation until Bluegreen built the resort there.

I have yet to dislike any of the Bluegreen resorts. One caveat, don't take a studio at Laurel Crest unless it's only for one person....and the 1 br standards at Laurel Crest/Mountain Loft leave a lot to be desired as far as size and comfort. We stay in the 1 br standard only if it is a necessity and would never stay there with another adult couple or even the grandgirls in tow!

My favorite resort was Orlando Sunshine Resort. Maybe it's because it was the 1st one I stayed at besides the one closest to us that we bought at (Christmas Mountain). This was before they built Sunshine II. I was just so impressed with our unit when I saw the whirlpool tub in the master bed, the screens on the balconies so we didn't worry about little ones falling off, the washer/dryer even tho it took 3 cycles to dry clothes, and the roominess of the place. I can't tell you anything about the staff there because we NEVER saw them. We checked in on a Sunday when the office was closed so we had the lockbox # (and no key in there but we finally found a maintenance man who let us in, funny that didn't seem like a big downer), we were at Disney every day when the office was open and left in the morning before it opened too. Thinking back on it we probably shouldn't have been so impressed

Lake Condos at Big Sky is great and the area is beautiful. Loved the real wood fireplace and gas grill. Still wonder why the 2nd tv is in the guest bedroom and not the master. The staff there was NOT very friendly but maintenance was prompt to come help us get the grill started.

Laurel Crest in Pigeon Falls TN had very friendly staff, nice accomodations, but seemed a little cramped with the narrow roads and buildings so close together.

Christmas Mountain is great, we usually stay in the timbers. Love the restaurant there and friendly staff. Thought the mini golf was kind of lame and the indoor pool is way too clorinated; you don't even have to go in the water to have your eyes tear up.

Only place I really was NOT impressed with was at the beach just N or Daytona. I'm pretty sure it was Ormand Beach......maybe the Outrigger. We got a studio and it was in POOR condition and very small. That place needed a major overhaul to replace paint, carpet, tiles, etc. I'm sure they've done that by now since this was 6-7 yrs ago.

                  Loved Lodge Alley

We haven't stayed at too many BG resorts (usually we trade in our weeks at RCI), but we did spend a lovely week at the Lodge Alley. With a courtside view, a one-bed suite and all of historic Charleston within walking distance, we were in southern heaven! The location just can't be beat.

We almost never revisit accomodations, but we loved Lodge Alley enough to actually want to go back. Our next visit will be next year.

We haven't stayed at too many of the BG resorts, but do like Falls Village in Branson. The units are spacious, nicely decorated and very clean. It's quiet there too. I love the shows so Branson is a must for me a couple times each year. We've also done Laurel Crest in Pigeon Forge and liked it and the area. We also enjoyed the facilities of Christmas Mountain, though we aren't likely to return simply because we don't enjoy the area. It's too pricey for us. As I mentioned elsewhere we were at Resort 66 in Florida and though the resort left a little to be desired we liked the town and beachfront, so we might return simply because of that. Big Cedar is our next goal.

My favorite is Orlando Sunshine. has kind of become a home away from home. A close second would be Via Roma had the end unit on the second level. Great sunsets.

I'm glad to hear that about Via Roma. We drove by it while we were staying at Resort 66 and wondered if it was a good one. The traffic is much heavier in that area of the island though, so we preferred the quiet farther north. I had also read some negative comments about it on RCI's web site.

I have also stayed at Resort 66 and it was almost as good as Via roma. Granted if I had gotten one of the units across the street I probably would not have liked it as much as I did. My favorite part of Via roma was the location, It was great. We had the top floor in the end unit on the side where the office is. The best thing about the resort is besides being a very nice and clean BG unit, the size of the resort is perfect and there were no crowds. Very similar to Resort 66 in that matter. Now that I am thinking about it again I think maybe a summer 07 trip is in order. I am hoping for some bonus time

How does the Bradenton Beach location of Via Roma compare to Amelia Island (Route 66)? At least I think that's where Route 66 is. I have been to neither but am considering both for some future getaway and a 'look see' at BG.
