We've stayed at Resort 66 on Anna Maria Island. Via Roma is south of 66 in the Bradenton Beach area. They're not terribly far apart, but like I said the Resort 66 location is less traveled. The resort is located right off the street, and it's easy to get around. Traffic isn't that heavy and it's a quaint little fishing village atmosphere, with few if any chain restaurants and stores. People walk lots of places and golf carts can be used for travel on some of the streets. The resort is on the beach with beautiful sunsets visible nightly. I also mentioned that the interior of the units could use upgrading, but the staff was helpful and it was clean. I'd go back in a minute. The library is close by and I could run over there quickly to check my email. It's a great little place. Several good resturaunts too.

Solara Surfside, Shorecrest I, Daytona Seabreaze are all resorts I've been to that have great oceanfront units with great beach access.

The Hammocks at Marathon has some bay view units. Surfrider in Sanibel has great beach access, but not great views. Gulfstream Manor is right on the beach, but resort isn't that great.

La Cabana has oceanview units, but you have to cross a street to get to the beach.

Casa Del Mar has oceanfront units, but I haven't been there yet.

Many of the affiliate resorts have oceanviews, but I haven't been to them so I can't comment.

If anyone wants to cut their costs when staying at CMV order this coupon book http://www.dellscoupons.com

They have a lot of 2 for 1's.

I just booked a 1 bedroom unit for next week at Gulfstream Manor using bonus time. I know I said it is my least favorite BG resort, but the weather is so wonderful, it will be nice to be right on the beach.

Big Cedar is our favorite. All the resorts have their vacation purpose and appeal. We definitely look forward to checking out and having vacations at the other resorts in the club when we get the opportunity!

CMV-Close to home (4 hrs), lots of stuff on site and nearby. Resort has many style units so you may get gas fireplace, wood fireplace, no fireplace, big this or little that...and on and on. It can fit pretty much anything or anyone.

Shorecrest 1. Ocean front units are great. Right on the beach, great shell collecting. Rooms are nice but not outstanding. Easy drive to anything, or just relax. No restaurant on site.

Laurel Crest-I don't remember much about the room. I think it was okay. View out the window was very nice, Smokey Mnts. Easy drive to town and shows.

Fountains-one of the best rooms (in the old building). Great pool, nice resort, but if you do anything it is a drive in heavy traffic. Resort is practically in middle of Orlando, feels like it anyway.

St. Augustine-Also great room. Resort is well kept, nice place. Town is 5 miles away, so still easy to get to but not sitting in town (like Fountains). Great history in the area. This resort is right up there on my book.

Big Cedar-Wasn’t too hot on the room or the view from the room. I know better now-get cabin next time. Resort is nice for the wilderness, it is not in town. If you like the water, and have a boat or rent one of their boats, you have it good. Some equipment I thought was in poor condition. It is a drive into Branson for the shows, and winding roads to get to the resort. Cookie ladies are the best

Can’t think of any I would not do again, but will go back to St Augustine, Shorecrest and CMV.

I agree with you....Big Cedar is our favorite. We have only been able to go twice since we live so far away. St. Augustine and Lodge Alley are fairly close to us and we love them...........so we go often !

                        CMV has new Mini Golf

CMV built a new mini golf west of the building and it is not lame. Quite nice and challenging. East of the building they put in an imitation beach area (it is not actually a beach on the lake, but back where the old mini golf was). I haven't figured out the purpose other than to allow one to sun in the sand and let the kids play in sand.

Hershey was fun with the fireplace and the jacuzzi tub.

We loved La Cabana, but the resort had little to do with it... Needed upgrades, but the beach was awesome... Nice pool also.

For golf, St. Augustine is fantastic. Very clean, nice accommodations.

Shenandoah was nothing special as far as the cabin went, (might have seen some bugs...) but the scenery is gorgeous.

We really liked the Hammocks at Marathon because the room was nice and spacious, the staff was really, really friendly, and everything was so clean. I don't know who runs housekeeping and maintenance there, but they do a fine job. Although the resort is small and doesn't offer all the amenities that bigger ones do, it doesn't really have to. It's located in the Floriday Keys, which are an attraction unto themselves.

At the end of the day, after tiring ourselves out on our excursions, it was nice to come back and sit at the bar by the pool and just unwind. The scenery over the water is great, and the whole aura of the place is relaxed.

My husband and I found one of the hammocks there and just watched the pelicans and other waterbirds do their thing. It was great.

WE just discovered BG and stayed at the Lodge Alley in Charleston. I would agree with Stitcher, it was a great location and a wonderful introduction into the BG inventory.

If the rest of the resorts are any comparison, I think we made a very good choice.

It sure beat that timeshare trade we did in Greece. They must have had this one section for "foreigners" thinking we make great watchdogs. We overlooked the parking lot and were well illuminated all night.

                              Best,

                              Richard

                                New to the Forum

We have been owners for about three years and very happy with BG. Our favoraite so far has been Marathon, extremely relaxing!! We are doing the Fountains next year with all the kids and trying to do Branson late in the fall with the parents.
Look forward to chatting with hppy owners in the future.
