This may seem old hat to many of you... but I thought I'd post it just in case there is a newby who can use the info and figure out ways to use small numbers of points...
We only have 8000 annual points and we really like to travel! So we tend to use our points to reserve midweek stays at the resorts we want to visit. We use weekend night for travel (usually staying at a cheap motel just to sleep and get us to our location if we need an overnight). We also try to use bonus time! For example, we are staying midweek at Ocean Towers in December, then we have three nights un reserved over the weekend, and another 4 nights in Orlando at The Sunshine. We have some relatives we can visit for a night or two in Alabama if we want. We are also going to try for Bonus time that weekend somewhere in FL. If we get it great! Three nights at the Fountains would be awesome. We stand a decent chance of getting in to the Sunshine as they always seem to have openings. Alternatively, we might stay in a Super 8 motel suite with a kitchenette for around $89 a night. It's not the fountains, but it's better than a two bed motel unit. I'll probably reserve the Super 8 just in case, and cancel the reservation if we get the bonus time.
So the lesson here is think creatively! You can have a week or two on few points if you are flexible with your weekends.
Have fun planning!
