Hello All. Happened across this forum a few days back and decided to join. Looking to get the most out of my BG membership. Been an owner since 2004.

What do you think of the possible sale....good..bad?

      Great first question!!!

I have decided to wait to see what happens before making up my mind. I love Bluegreen and would hope that they continue to deliver outstanding service and vacation opportunities to their members.

I have avoided researching DRI as it would cause me to speculate more than would be good for me ; )

      Welcome!

Some are doing lots of speculating; some are worried to no end; others like BoardGirl and myself are just waiting and it might be an interesting trip, if the buy-out happens at all. They have to get financing and that to me would be a BIG if as to whether or not that might hpapen.

Change is not easy. From what I have studied about DRI, it is a pretty good system--has its pros and cons compared to Bluegreen. What gets confusing is there are DRI U.K. points and there are DRI U.S. points. It seems the UK owners aren't as satisfied as the US owners.

Those that might lose some benefits might be the premier members. But one of our cohorts has made these sensible comments and I am paraphrasing:

        1. 44% of BG's sales are from existing owners.
        2. If DRI removed our benefits drastically, without replacing them with something else equally as enticing and attractive, then that number will most definitely decrease in a major way.

They already bought a fledgling company and have been working to make it successful. (By the way, DRI only owned two resorts prior to buying nearly bankrupt SunTerra and now have over 100 resorts.) Now, they are interested in buying a money making company (except for the land sales part of Bluegreen) and I am sure they would want to keep it that way and not have it go down the tubes, while they are still trying to recover from the SunTerra purchase and bring those standards up to where they should be.
