Sounds more like he was trying to punish you for being late than a joke. Must've been pretty unnerving!

I wonder if the boats still run through October - I was told the concession stand at Witches Gulch would close the day after Labor day but I suppose that doesn't necessarily mean the boats stop then.

The boat companies don't get any money if you drive to it - it's still just three bucks a person and the money goes to the state or county (the concessionaire wasn't clear on that) - so the boat companies don't have any reason to talk about it. Although they did alright by us, considering; we had a snack there and also everyone but hubby bought something.

Oh! I just took it all in stride. There were few of us on the boat and the captain's dad was there who had been a previous boat captain as well as the captain's wife and toddler son--the future captain, keeping it in the family. The few in # made me surprised he would not know we weren't there......and it was a bit unnerving but they were close enough, I knew they could hear us and I knew that we could get back with the people at the "store" which apparently is a concession stand. The unnerving part was our son was on the boat and we were NOT!

Actually, it's one of those things that make you remember it! It was an eventful trip............as we sat in Denny's, we saw the fire department come to the Wendy's next door, after everyone evacuated, to put out a fire.............and the pool building at CMV was being rebuilt (after I think having a fire????) and so we had passes to the Howard Johnson's indoor water park. What a riot! My son (and DH) still laughs about my screaming going down this tiny waterslide tube in which my ample presence ended up on my tummy, after starting on my back, and then I couldn't see and I started screaming---everyone was laughing at me! They had a much better time than I did, though I was a good Joe about it afterwards............and it does make me smile still.

And isn't that what vacations are all about? And for many of us, that is exactly why it doesn't matter how much we paid for our timeshare, because it MAKES us go on vacation and makes is make memories...............and when our parents die, as my mom did last December, that's all we have left--memories and don't we want there to be those great, precious moments like these to fondly remember?

Yes, so true. I'm sorry to hear you lost your mother. One of my cousins died in December, my brother's bestest pal, and I am so glad that, although most of our lives we lived quite far away, we got together often enough to have a good treasury of those kinds of memories.

Oddly enough, I think one of the memories I'll hold onto longest from our visit to CMV is when we tracked down someone to look at our misbehaving van. The owner sent the kids and I over to a deck between the garage and his house to wait while he put the car on the lift, and my bored teenage son was bumping his head on the side of the house, which I didn't really notice until the guy's wife came out to see who was banging on her wall.

But she ended up inviting us in and feeding the kids pb & j and telling us about renovating her house and we had the bestest time. Not the sort of experience you expect when you've got car troubles on vacation. But one we will remember a good while.

I know the upper dells trips will still be going on in October, but maybe not til the end of October.
The Hynosis show - when I saw it , it was very raunchy. Was it like that when your kids went?

We went the Family show on Friday night; very tame. Reminded me of a hypnotist show we had in college. I didn't know that the adult show was in poor taste; thanks for the warning. Raunchy isn't my cup of tea!
