  • Bonus Time Question

I've got a question that makes my head hurt just thinking about it! Okay, so here's the deal: I want to get Long Creek Ranch for my family for Thanksgiving--checking in on Thanksgiving day which is the 27th. According to the little calculator on the website I can call on October 9th to start to reserve.

Obviously I'm assuming I'm not the only person who's had the idea of taking the family to Long Creek over the holiday. So, here's what makes my head hurt. Why can I make a reservation on the 9th of October (48 days out) that extends beyond the 48 day window (assuming I stay 3 nights). In other words the nights of the 28th and 29th would be 49 and 50 days out but still allowed to reserve? The reason I ask is because one could book several days of bonus time ahead like book November 25,26,27,29,30 and be allowed "in" (allowed to book on Oct 7, 48 days prior to November 25th)several days before the others then simply call later and drop the first 2 days leaving me with my desired reservation.

I know this is an extremely technical question--I feel nerdy asking! But, it's a legitimate observation if it is in fact how the system works.

You do realize Long Creek has higher prices than the normal bonus time rates? (As do all of the Presidential Units, as well.)

It makes my head hurt too! Well, not this first part...........# of days/months out always goes by check-in date of the reservation being made............

You can't just "drop 2 days". You have to cancel the one reservation and then make an entirely new reservation. Even if done in one phone call, another person could book your canceled time, just in that short period of time in between canceling and making the new one. However, BG has a rule (apparently not always enforced) that you have to wait 24 hours between canceling at a resort and re-booking at that same resort............so within that 24 hours, you most likely would lose your "slot" assuming there is nothing else available and people are wait listed.

All that being said, my guess is that if you could make the one reservation for all those nights at 48 days out, that you will be able to make it at 45 days out as well.

Not a nerdy question at all...............you are learning how to work the system! That's part of what makes a nice experience for BG owners and when you are thinking in these terms, it means you are looking for ways to accomplish what you want to do and by planning in advance--which usually makes all the difference between a happy and an unhappy owner.

Ah ha, so those are two things I never knew. That you were supposed to have to wait 24 hours--and that it goes by CHECK IN date. That makes a difference. And I'm silver so I think the rate is like $269 a night--pretty steep but we'll split it a bunch of ways so it'll work. If only I can get it. Thanks.

Have you checked on availability during that time with points, just to get a feel of what is available? Even if you don't have enough points left to do it, they will still look it up for you!

The 48 day online or the 45 day by phone is based on the check-in day. As is the 11 month for reservations, doesn't matter the length of the reservation just that the check-in day is in the window.

Welcome to Bluegreen. I have been a member since 1997, converted to points in 2000. Have been to many of the properties. Our favorite is Wilderness Club.
