  • Buying Retail Points

This question may be old hat to many, but I'm relatively new to Bluegreen (about a 1 1/2 years) and very new to this forum. My wife and I have bought twice - our original purchase and an upgrade in August last year - and currently have 10,000 points. We're wanting to increase our points to around 15-18 thousand. I'm looking for points with the newer Maintenance Fee structure to match what I already have.

After reading through the different posts, I know the difference between qualified and unqualified points on resale. I'd like to know some insight and experiences some of the members have concerning purchases of unqualified points. Any regrets? Pros and Cons? I already have VIP benefits through our current points.

I have purchased resale through e-Bay, privately, through a broker, and through Boca. No regrets with any of these. If I were to buy more points, I would look at (in order):

    a) Points being in Trust E (newest trust).
    b) desirable unit/week/resort so I could use the 12 month reservation policy.
    c) Price per point.
    d) Confidence in seller.

The hardest info to get is "are the points in Trust E". You can figure it out from the maintenance fee but you have to have hard information on that. Many sellers won't have the right information. The estoppal is what is best but sometimes hard to get.

As always Charles gave you terrific advice.

The question ultimately is what is your goal. If you are wanting 18k points, why not go for 20k and reach Silver status. Boca has some incredible deals for qualified points where you could easily buy 10k points for $5k and reach Silver preferred with all the benefits.

Of course, you could purchase non-qualified points with Trust Fund E and the same anniversary date for $.25/point or less, but trying to keep track of those points when making reservations will be more trouble than it is worth.

I would save up $5k and buy 10k points. That will get you a 2 BR week at just about any BG resort and you get the perks of being a Silver owner.

Best of luck and welcome to this forum. That is the smartest thing you could have done. As the old saying goes "Knowledge is Power" and the people on this forum are some of the most knowledgeable you will find.

        Buy points for premier status

Is there a way to buy points that would have all the benefits as those bought from BG without the higher price? In other words, are there "authorized resellers" so I could buy points to increase in the VIP levels (bronze, silver, gold, platinum) and get all of the benefits? I'm new here too so could you direct me to the posts for qualified and unqualified points or explain what you mean because I think that would impact what I am asking. What should I consider to be an average price range for the points I am looking for?
Thanks in advance for any info.

Contract Boca on this site, he will do a great job taking care of you and guiding you through the process.

We bought our first package from Pinnacle Vacations--who is technically Bluegreen's Authorized Reseller. Boca on here is a referral agent for them and we bought our second package through him. We now have 27,000 for which we have maybe $12,000 total (between both packages) and I have FULL silver benefits and bonus time and all that. I'm pretty happy with that and feel like I've gotten a good deal although I'm sure there are better deals to be had.

I would venture to guess that now would be a good time to find seller's who are wanting out of their timeshare. This economy is not a good time to travel for most. I've been renting out my excess points for cash! Not a lot but $300 here or there--it covers my MF.

              Selling BG Points

I would be happy to sell you my 8,000 points, either through a reseller, or through my lawyer. I have never used them, and never will. Yes, I do not understand them, and no, I don't want to try . I will just rent a hotel when needed.
I do not know if they are qualified or non qualified, but I think you have to buy through Pinnacle to get qualified.

Anyway, make an offer . I am ready and willing to exit Bluegreen Vacations.
