We were thinking about borrowing our next allotment of points. This is the earliest I remember maintenance fees being posted.

We did this 2 years ago. Our point anniversary is Sept 1st. We received our points borrowed the following year and paid maintenance in Sept, didn't owe until 15 months later for the next. (Besides the adjustment to actual from what was estimated.)

If we want to borrow now, are we paying 2009 now and still owe 2008 by Nov 15th this year???

If you pay your 2009 maintenance fees which were just billed this past weekend and are due on Nov 15, 2008, you can borrow your points normally given to you on Sept 1, 2009. You will NOT owe another maintenance fee in Nov 2008.

The past couple of years, my wife and I planned ahead and had the funds available in late sept. This year we paid the fee's on the 30th. My anniversary date is in May, and I like to travel in April/May/June. This presents an issue for us, as getting points in May, and trying to make reservations for then is down right impossible. By the next May, they are saved points, so if we do chose to travel in June, they are no good in most cases. This allows me now to book a spring/early summer vacation using next years points, and only having to pay the maintenance fee's a bit early.

Since you have a May anniversary date, you must use 2009 points to book a vacation for May or June of 2009. You have already determined that.

What you could have done is pre-pay 2009 maintenance fees in May 2008, borrowed your points from May 2009 and used them to book your vacation in either April, May or June of 2009 at the 11 month mark prior to check in.

If you do an upgrade in the future and decide to change your anniversary date, you should probably consider changing it to Aug, Sept or Oct. If you change your anniversary date to Sept, then you can use 2008 points to book 2009 summer vacations.

Your first statement is incorrect. That is the rule that used to be in place that Bluegreen eliminated in Dec 2007.

For your specific example, let's say you want to book March 20, 2010 at Via Roma.

You can get on the waitlist on January 20, 2009 since you are a Gold owner. You don't need the points into your account until April 20, 2010 when Bluegreen books the waitlist for your check in date.

You can use your points that would normally be allotted to you on Sept 1, 2009 without having to pre-pay 2010 maintenance fees normally due on Nov 15, 2009. Just ask to borrow them at the same time you get on the waitlist so that they will be there when they try to book it on April 20, 2009.
