  • Best weeks to rent?

Hi, I just found this forum tonight and looked around, then went to TUG and posted a question and got referred back over here when I was informed there was a Bluegreen forum here. I'm so happy to find this place and could use alot of help learning how to best utilize our timeshare.

I've been an owner since 1998 and have 12,000 points/ yr anniversary date of March 1. I've already got my exchange for this summer but know we're going to SD next yr and there's only 1 RCI resort there and not in the best location as a home base so I'm saving up my hotel rewards to use. The year after that we're going on a cruise. So I currently have 12,000 points plus next yrs and two years I won't be using them and would like to rent them out.

I'd appreciate any help on picking what week and resort to request and any tips on how to aquire those weeks. I'll be giving them to Bluegreen to rent for me (please no yelling I don't want the stress or time to rent them myself) but I don't trust them to pick the week for me since I've been burned by this before when asking for "a good week for exchange" and my nice 2br in Michigan traded for a low rated fairfield 1br in Williamsburg (vacation consultant gave me a ressie less then 3 months out).

Thanks for any help you can give me. I look forward to getting to know all of you.

    Calie,

In general, summer beach weeks, winter in Florida and Aruba, July in cold weather places. Using Bluegreen to rent your weeks is hit or miss. You are far better off renting it yourself. Send me a private message for details or if you require additional rental assistance with your Bluegreen weeks. I'd be glad to help.

      Call Bluegreen Rental

Even though you may not want to use BG to actually rent out your week (at least based on my recent experience), it never hurts to give them a call to ask about popular weeks and locations.

I know you don't want to rent it yourself so here's my opinion - get a Big Cedar cabin and put it for rent on TUG - it will rent itself. In the past year, Big C has become very precious to plenty of Tuggers that can travel frequently. We're within the 5 mo partial week window, so grab something for summer even if you can't get a full week.

Otherwise, hit the holidays for BG to rent it for you. Christmas, New Years, Pres Week would be before your points roll over. These are winter, so I'd go with either ski destinations or the very warm (Hawaii, Miami, Marathon, Aruba)... and you could always settle for an Orlando week.

        just my 2 cents

Good idea. I just checked last week and there are 2 bedroom cabins still available for August.
