To be honest, I don't know which check-in line I was in. I just went where they told us to.

I too ( although am an owner as well at Mayan), have gotten an ocean view thru RCI just by asking when I check in....I never noted an RCI line...I just go to check in....

still up in the air on a few things, but thrilled to be able to keep my Morritt's Grand in April (I thought I'd have to cancel - still might, but we booked air so are more committed) , and also booked a nice August week into Newport, RI for a drive-to summer trip. April also brings Palm Springs and Jazzfest in NOLA at the end of the month (checking out the new Wyndham Belle Maison) -- going to be a busy month!! I'm also trying to hit the Berkshires for opening weekend at Tanglewood...

We are also trying to get in a trip to SFO/Napa in Feb, but not confirmed yet. I've got expiring tickets on Delta, gotta go somewhere

My family is going to Orlando for two weeks right after the 4th of July. We can't wait. My youngest daughter, who is autistic, is finally graduating from high school. We've had lots of prayers and support from friends and family to get her there and she really deserves a great vacation for all the hard work. My oldest daughter also turns 21 when we are there. She doesn't know it, but we are going to fly her boyfriend in for a week so he can be there for her birthday. Right now, we are planning treks to Disney, Sea World and Discovery Cove. (My daughter who is autistic has always wanted to swim with dolphins - so this will be the highlight of her trip!)

What a great cause for celebration, and a perfect trip for the occasion. Kudos to your youngest, and to you. I bet your oldest daughter is going to be VERY appreciative, too

about the things we have lined up for 2009.

We decided we wanted to go to some resorts we hadn't been to and we also had some blue and white points we had to use this coming winter. In January we are going to Carolina Grande, Daytona Sea Breeze, and The Grande Villas in St. Augustine. In Feb. we have a week at Fox Run at Lake Lure, NC. We will be going to Shorecrest I and Lodge Alley in March and April to Via Roma in Bradenton Beach, FL..........and we are most excited about going back to Big Cedar in June. WE ARE LOVING DOING THE BLUEGREEN THING !

I was wondering if you have plans for 2009 and where you are heading? Maybe we will meet at some of these special places.

              Have a Blessed Weekend.....

              Sister Syl

I wanted to add to my original post: We are on a wait list for the Hammocks in Marathon for November '09.
We made reservations to stay in one of Shenendoah's RV's in July next year. They have two RV's that you can use points to stay in their new RV Section. We were always campers when the kids were growing up and we love to camp. We are just too old now to do the hauling the camper, etc. so this is a great thing for us. We stayed in a Yurt there in August and loved that.

Thanks to all of you who prayed for me and the heart surgery I had. I am home recouperating and believing I will be able to travel come 2009.

We have hopes, plans, and California Dreaming for late summer. Nothing has been booked as yet. It would be for our 10 year anniversary, so I hope we get the set up we want. We may try to get into the French Laundry. It may take the pope to get reservations.
I have to modify my plans.
Still going to Myrtle Beach at DWs spring break, will be flying kite(s) on the beach.

I was able to get two units at Riverpointe so will have Napa in Aug with another couple. Will not do French Laundry, just too costly, but will do the wine train. I think that will be a great experience.

Last time we were in wine country, we did 22 wineries in the 7 days. Going to cut the winery numbers down as we are going to see something other than the inside of a wine glass, like trees. I hear tell they have some big ones out there.

Escuse my ignorance, but what is French Laundry? I've never gotten to go to Napa but it sounds like a great trip you've worked out.

French Laundry is high end (meaning over priced) restaurant serving well paired food and wine in multi courses. But, my wife reports the selection she was looking at is now over $200 each. That is too much for a meal.

Wine train has different plans and different meals, or just a train ride. I want badly to do a good food/wine pairing. It will still cost in the $100 range, but this will be a once in a lifetime event.

If you ever go to a wine tasting where the winemaker or owner or actual winery workers are there, ask them about the wine train. Changes are, you will get some wild stories.

I wanted to thank all of you for your prayers for me and the heart surgery that I had. I ended up having to have two emergency eye surgerys two weeks after the heart procedure. I go to the cardiologist this Friday and hopefully he will give me the GO for us to travel in January.
I am sooooooooo ready to get "out of Dodge" and back on the road in our red Mercury van. We have almost 200,000 miles on it but it is still getting us there and back. If we get the release to go we will hit three places in Florida and end up at our daughters in Celebration, Fl. It is so great to be with the grandkids for a short visit.

May 2009 be an absolutely awesome year for each of you, inspite of all the many challenges we each will face.

                        God Bless...........

We just returned from two weeks spread across Florida. We went to Panama City Beach at Ocean Towers for 5 days, the Fountains in Orlando for three, and Sunshine II in Orlando for 4 more days.

Ocean Towers was nothing fancy, but very clean and comfy. There was TONS of storage in the unit... big closets, empty cabinets in the kitchen (room to store our food, which has been an issue in some timeshares) nice space. We had a very lovely beach front balcony. The weather was a nice 75 degrees most of the time. Too cold to jump in the ocean, but great to sit and let the kiddos play in the sand while I read a book!

Orlando was.... Orlando. We hit Disney, enjoyed swimming in the new HUGE pool at the Fountains, and had a quiet family Christmas at the Sunshine. The kids were pretty happy they got to swim on Christmas eve and Christmas day!

Our next trip will be 4 nights at Big Cedar in March (excited to try it out for the first time!)

Then we are on to Shenandoah in VA, a regular hotel for the weekend in Williamsburg (we'll see if we can get bonus time) and ShoreCrest (not sure if it's I or II... but it's the one with ocean front) in Myrtle Beach the last two weeks in May. We are going to hunt for a last call/bonus week in FL for the first week in June also. We'll be within a days drive of FL from Myrtle Beach (normally it's two days from the midwest) and we still have Disney days left on our non-expiring passes (plus a birthday for my youngest = free Disney day for her!), so we thought it might be nice to see what's available!

We are out of points until April 1, 2009 and now I'm wishing we could afford to purchase more points (I'll only purchase resale from now on of course!) But we have had lots of fun this year, and have plenty of fun planned for next year.

Wine pairing and wine touring in VA-Bluegreen

In Shenandoah, VA there are some great wineries and with great lodging already mentioned at the S. Crossings. If you are traveling there, Barboursville Winery that is one of the closest wineries to the resort. and one of the best. They have a wine pairing dinner that was fantastic as well as a great wine tasting at the visitor center. Horton's vineyard is almost right across the street and there are about 10 others wineries with in a few hours ride from the resort. I found this fantastic place for my 40th B-day party with my sisters and mother a few years ago. We went back the next year and had a blast for the 4th of July. The RV and other alternative units they now have were not built yet so I am looking forward to another visit soon. I think BG mentioned the wine tours in VA in one of their magazines. With free horseback riding and great swimming ....it is a great place to visit.
We own all our deeds at Big Cedar 62,000 and travel there almost every year along with going to Charleston in March, Boyne MI in April, B.C. in May, and we will hopefully go to Door County, WI in October(Shell vacation club- really nice accomidations). PS....I am new to this site and I have seen a lot of great info. I hope I have not rambled on too much. I love BG and in four years of ownership we have been all over...just in BG.

Welcome JMC, glad to have you here. You will find a lot of information here and it looks as you will be able to share some too.

I didn't know BG had free horseback riding anywhere. I will keep that in mind and will certainly be checking into the wine pairing dinner.
