When do you call and have you been able to get what you want?

I'm curious about everyone's experiences in calling to book your resort. The last time I called in was for a week at BigSky. I had 2 weeks in June when my husband had vacation from school so the earliest check in was the 17th on a Saturday. Figuring 11 months in advance would be the 17th of July which was a Sunday so I called right when they opened on Monday. The week I wanted was already booked but she offered me the next week starting on the 24th and I was able to book it that day. I didn't question it since I got what I wanted but technically I don't think I should have been able to do that since it wasn't 11 months out yet. But maybe I'm not understanding this right so I thought I'd ask if anyone knew how this worked and/or your experiences. The next time I'm reserving I have to get a particular week since it's the last week of the season; can't take the week before cause kids are in school and the week after I'd have to downgrade to a 1 BR to have enough points.

You were lucky. Technically, that reservation at Big Sky is an illegal reservation. And, Big Sky is so popular, that a Gold or Silver preferred owner may have gotten it if you didn't get it sooner.

The interesting thing is that Bluegreen will tell you when there is future inventory available. So, even if it is 12 or 13 months ahead of check in, you will know if they have something. Then, you can get on the waitlist for it.
