Has anyone ever stayed at either of the gulf shores bluegreens? Also for those who have stayed at a Bluegreen in Florida, besides Orlando, where is the best place as far as beaches and rooms? Thanks I am new to this site.
I have stayed at St. Augustine World Golf Village and while it is not on the beach (miles away actually-but when you get there, the beach is wonderful) the rooms are very nice and the resort is wonderful. It is on a golf course, which means nothing to me since I don't swing that way, at least the joints in my shoulder won't swing that way. The PGA hall of fame (or whatever it is) is right there too so there is effort to keep the grounds looking good...and they are well kept. I also liked St. Augustine because of the history, the fort, the ghost tour, info on how the whole area came to be (Henry Flagler) and so much more. I will do this resort again.
I have spent more time at Shore Crest in Myrtle Beach, SC. Rooms and resort are a little older, but the resort is right on the beach and we always get an ocean front room to enjoy that view. The sand is finer and white in SC and more of a coarse yellow in Fl. Weird comment and observation.
When we hit the east coast, it is March, so it is warmer in Fl than SC, but I would go back to either location.

I would not recommend Tropical Sands. It is not on the beach, etc., etc. One advantage though is that in March it was nice and warm. We have stayed at Solara Surfside 3 times in March. One time it was nice and warm and two times the breeze off the Atlantic offset the sun's warmth. Also, the beach is too steep for me for walking.
Have not been to SC in March so can't comment on weather. I go in June. I too love the beaches at Shore Crest and SeaGlass. Can't wait to get back.

I own three weeks at Shoreline Towers and go there every year. What kind of info would you like?
I was just wondering how the rooms are, how is the beach, the restaurants, the night life, etc. Also is there a place to paddle canoes on like a nearby lake or river system?
We stayed at The Hammocks in Marathon for five days in early December. Nice place with friendly staff. We had a studio which was fine for the two of us. We would have liked a one bedroom, but we just couldn't get one for five days straight. Book early if you want a one bedroom unit. There is no beach...as are most of the keys...beachless. You will have to go down to Key West for a fine beach (sand was brought from the Bahamas). It is about an hour drive time away. Other things to do...Mel Fisher's Atocha Museum....Mallory Square in the evening...the Hemingway House...and of course Sloppy Joe's.
We went to the Dolphin Research Center for a truly great time. It is located about 10 miles north on Grassy Key. DO NOT MISS THIS....otherwise you would have missed one wonderful educational attraction. During our time there, someone asked how they keep the dolphins in the lagoons. They actually don't. The dolphins stay of their own accord. Two of them jumped the barrier a couple of years ago and two days later they were back. Ahhh...the good life. The center was just in the news when we were there. They had just rescued a manatee that was hit by a boat.

I understand that there is a nice beach a bit south of Marathon but I have not seen it. We like walking and at Marathon you can walk 2 miles of the old 7 mile bridge. You can see all sorts of sea life in the water below.
We spent 5 nights at Ocean Towers in December and it was lovely! The weather was too cool to swim in the ocean, but we enjoyed playing in the sand and walking on the beach. The pool deck was closed for painting while we were there. If it had been open we would have been able to swim in the heated pool. Regular touristy things to do in Panama City. We went bowling and mini-golfing, and found a good city park playground for this kids one morning. We brought a picnic! It was a nice stay!

The 2-bedrooms are about 1400 sq ft. The 3-bedroom units are bigger. It's not a fancy place with bells and whistles. You cannot beat it for convenience and comfort.
The gulf is on one side of the island where shoreline towers is located, and across the road on the other side of the island is a lagoon where you can paddle.
There are many really good restaurants in the Gulf Shores/Foley/Orange Beach area.
You can find nightlife too, but I can't say a lot about that since we're not nightlife folks.
I love the area.... And I love sitting out on the balcony watching the waves crash on the shore. We'll be there in March, and we're looking forward to the beach, eating out, and GOLF!
