  • Harbor Lights vs Shorecrest II Review?

We are thinking of going to Myrtle Beach. Has anyone been to both to give me a comparison of these two resorts?

I've been to Shorecrest a couple years ago. At that time the spa was not to clean.

I have been to both. Twice . If your a beach person, then for sure Shore Crest. If the beach is not the main goal, then either will do. Harbor Lights has a new "adults" pool area, and is directly across from the Hard Rock Park (if it opens again).

I would suggest Shore Crest I over the II units as it has ocean front or ocean view units. Nice pool and lazy river (from what I have seen, never been in them) and right there on the beach. I have been to Shore Crest twice, going back in March. Great kite flying too. This is where my kite flying started.

We stayed at SeaGlass tower at Thanksgiving in '08 and really enjoyed it. It is on the beach. If you can, get at least 12 floors up and one of the town facing corner suites. South view from the 20th floor was great. Only downer is if the place is busy, there are only 2 elevators.

I agree Shore Crest I over II. Shore Crest I has the ocean view and the lazy river view. Shore Crest II you are over looking a residential area. The guest bedroom is a little small in both I & II.

          Enjoy your week in MB.

I would stay at Shorecrest II if I could not get into Shorecrest I just because I like the beach and it's just across the street. The pools at Harbour Lights might be a little nicer, but shorecrest as 2 lazy rivers and 4 whirlpool hot tubs 2 indoors and 2 outdoors.

Be aware that there a certain building in Harbour Lights where you might have to climb steps. Not all buildings at Harbour Lights have elevators. If that is a concern for you make sure you can get a ground level unit or a building with elevators. The second bedroom at Harbour Lights is indeed larger than the ones at Shorecrest but I'm never the who uses the second bedroom.

Agree with everything said. Both resorts were my first Bluegreen property..

The view at SeaGlass is indeed great. But the unit is small. I would hate to have 4 adults in it. For me even 2 adults and 2 kids would be crowded. But if you are on the beach all day and eat out at night, it wouldn't matter. That being said, my wife and I are indeed heading back to SeaGlass and Shore Crest I.

Harbor Lights is a nice resort but it is away from the ocean. Some of the units have a view of the Intercoastal and you can watch boats go by (unless you are at the beach or on a boat).

Agree with everything. To me, Harbor lights has nicer units, but is not near the ocean. However, they will give you a free pass to the state park beach.
( about a five mile trip)

                    Traffic

I've only stayed at HL and that's my only visit to MB so I'm not real familiar with the area.

I would add that a couple times when we were near the ocean we got caught in traffic and it was awful. There's nothing I want to do less than spend my vacation in a rental car in bumber-to-bumper stop-and-go traffic.

I'm not sure if the roads around the other resorts such as ShoreCrest or SeaGlass get like that. Maybe someone else can chime in in this regard. But if they do, it's something you may want to consider. HL is far enough away from the ocean that getting around is easier.

Seemed like when the weather turned bad, when I was there it was rain, everyone (myself included) is in their car driving around and the roads down near the ocean just can't handle it.

Being in North Myrtle Beach, traffic at Shore Crest is not bad. In late June we did not see any major problems at SeaGlass. However, there is still traffic in the evening.
