  • Ready to Vacation Soon

Some, if not all of you, knew that I went into the hospital last Wednesday for major surgery. I was supposed to be in only one night but they kept me two nights, in part because I have a hard time keeping awake for any period of time after anesthesia. But all is well and I am home! Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!

I'll certainly be ready to vacation very soon! In fact, some others who were support system for another gal in surgery actually were in a Mariott to stay and it was amazing. I have to look to see if I can use any points through world hotels to stay there.

The one gal wrote about it:
Marriot Residence Inn (on Victor's Way in Ann Arbor) and got a beautiful 2 story suite with a queen bed upstairs and 2nd bathroom, and main floor with separate bedroom with another 2 queen beds, which is perfect for Judy and I and Nat is upstairs. 3 tvs in this suite! lol. Also the fireplace is sooo nice. They have the preformed logs at the front desk for $5 but they are only $2.69 at Kroger. There is a full kitchen, (maid even washed our dirty dishes) and comfy living room with a pullout couch too. Wireless internet is FREE and so is the hot breakfast buffet and a light evening dinner Sun-Thu. This is definitely a great value for families and spouses that want to save on restaurants. There are restaurants nearby though, including McDonalds, and a Wendy's/Tim Hortons around the corner.

Not sure about price as her daughter/niece works for Mariott and so they got a discounted rate better than the hospital rate. But if I could use points.....

our first stay down there, we stayed at Red Roof Inn...........clean and newish but not impressed with the week night prices with free internet and hospital discount.

This last week, our first two nights we stayed at a cheap place and it was indeed............especially when you are used to condos...........third night (my second night in the hospital), my son and husband stayed at a MicroTel Inn which was the best of the three but still not a timeshare condo!

Sure helped me appreciate Bluegreen and until I began writing this, I hadn't even THOUGHT of checking on Bluegreen for hotels in that area! I will for our next trip, though!

Bluegreen has been hit and miss lately with their traveler plus program. In the past, we were able to get good hotel prices, as well as rental cars, and air fare. On multiple occasions, we have used the traveler plus program and have gotten good prices on hotels. Now we use priceline, hotmail, and to a lesser degree, hotel.com.

When you go to Bluegreen to find a hotel, it takes you to hotel.com and the data entry connection between those sites doesn’t work well. You enter the info at BG, then it takes you to hotel.com, but none of the info has followed, so you enter it again.

If you are looking for a hotel, you really need to compare prices on the websites. It is amazing how the same hotel may go for such different prices.

Sometimes it kind of makes me wonder why I still pay for the service. I guess once in a while, I find deals. The discount of restaurant food is good. I do get the good hits that make me keep it.

Thanks for the reminder to check out priceline.com etc. also...........it's strange how I didn't even think about that when I was making reservations for hotel before........................although for car rentals and airfare, I do exactly that. But for overnight accommdations on the way to a timeshare, I just pick up one of the traveler's magazines and start deciding where we will land for the night and call one up and make a ressie that way. Works out well that way; I don't like to be locked into a place when I might not want to go that far or may want to go further................................

As platinum, luckily, I don't have to pay for Traveler's PLus (ironically, the RS on the phone the other day didn't know that--she checked and came back and said, "You're right!" I bit my tongue from saying, "I know that I am!")....but do remember the one GREAT benefit of Trav Plus now is Select Connections with the Shell resorts available to us out west. But you have to have purchased since July 2006 to qualify for that..........(either qualified resale or from the developer).
