  • Can anyone share what they received for attending Owner Updates?

I hope this isn't a tacky question, but we are traveling to three BG locations next month. Shenanadoah Valley, Patrick Henry Square, and Shorecrest I. I know I'll be asked to participate in an Owner Update, but which one should we do? Is anyone willing to share what "free gift" they have received for attending Owner Updates at these locations?

I know, people probably think I'm a mooch because I never intend to buy. But I actually do learn interesting things at these updates, so we usuallly attend one. So which one gives the best stuff??

So what if it is tacky, why can't we be tacky among friends. I can't respond to your particular sites but Christmas Mountain just offered me a $100 gas card. However, another BG owner told me it is only good for $10 a month over a year. Oh and by the way, many people attend "Owner Updates" for only the free gift and walk out with more points. BG knows what they are doing. It sounds like you have a great trip planned.

We were at Shorecrest in March. Weather was cold and so was the gift. It was coupons for the area, some were for discounts when dinning out, a portrait for reduced cost, some other stuff. None of it got used. Although, I have to say that Fred aka sales guy, was probably the best I have talked to in a while.

We did the update at CMV (the worse site for the update) in Oct. and got a $100 gift card.

I did Shorecrest a year or so back, without spouse, and received $100, easily. not high pressure, but they didn't seem to know as much about Bluegreen as I did.

I have heard, do not know firsthand, that Shen sales reps are pushy and rude. I would skip them. Have not done one at CMV.

          Lodge Alley Inn

They were offered tickets for use to various places in Charleston area. We chose 4 tickets to the Middelton Plantation- that was a 100.00 value. While we were there, another couple chose two sets of tickets, so it seems your choice of tickets up to for almost 100.00.
I know your time is valuable, but I had heard from one place that you could do only one owner update in a certain timeframe but the next year I was told you can do as many as you want. Not sure what the rules are...as they seem to change occasionally.

The latest I heard on owner updates was that you could do one every 30 days. Is that changing? But yes, our vacation time is valuable. Plus DH will only tolerate one update per vacation, even when it's a three week long grand vacation! LOL!

I have the same feeling from the DW. Well...actually, she told me that she will NEVER go to one again. Problem is, these people won't even talk to you or give you the off times before they will talk. So getting any news about the new resorts is nearly impossible.

Shen Crossing offered us a $50.00 VISA gift card. They use to give $100.00 to $150.00. They said they are not to do so anymore due to the economy.
BTW- we have always enjoyed our presentation there and don't feel they were too pushy...

We just returned from Patrick Henry Square and they are not doing any updates there now or in the near future.

We also just returned from from Patrick Henry and enjoyed Williamsburg with my family very much. There brand new sales center is completely shut down. Not a salesman to be seen anywhere. I was told by the front desk that it has been shut down since last Fall. They did open it on Friday night though for a "bingo nite". Great Location. We are booked for Shenandoah Crossings in late July and are staying in one of the brand new 3 bedroom cabins they have built this year. Has anyone stayed in any of these cabins yet ???????

Had an owner's update yesterday at Club 36. I got two $25 VISA cards.

Honestly, I think they should give nothing to existing owners. Unless they are getting these pre-loaded cards for pennies on the dollar.

The sales person mentioned a potential acquisition. At least 5 facilities. I can only assume this is true but they were using it as a sales ploy saying the "corporation" would use it as an opportunity to raise the price per point.

My wife and I got the same story last year at The Fountains. Here's what we've received at owner updates at resorts:

2002: Christmas Mountain Village - A local coupon book
                            2007: Shorecrest - $200
                            2008: Fountains - $100 Disney Dollars

We will be going to Christmas Mountain Village on July 11th, and I found these forums while searching to find out about the current owner update offers. For the last two years, my wife and I have gone to 2 sales pitches each year, on vacation. Each year, the first was our Bluegreen owner update. in 2007, we saw Wyndham, and received $200 cash. In 2008, we say Diamond Resorts, and received 2 (childrens) Disney tickets. In addition to the gifts, we usually go for information. Last year, I chose Diamond Resorts because of the letter of intent.

We have also attended local owner updates, and the last time we were given a $50 visa check card. We've never had high pressure sales inside Bluegreen, and we've had pretty good luck outside of Bluegreen which checking out the competition. Our one weekness is that my wife used to be in (retail) sales, and she feels obligated to hear out the whole pitch, and then she starts to get interested. I have learned that as long as I put my foot down early enough, we don't waste too much time, and we usually get a few extra $$ for our vacation.
