    Christmas mountain does have a Meet and Greet on Monday morning that has nothing to do with sales. they have learned to put the donuts out at the end of the meeting so that people don't eat and leave.

      [QUOTE=crwisconsin;

      Let's really, seriously think about this. Why would anyone give me $100 to attend a one on one meeting to tell me that they put in new mattresses, changed hole 14 on the golf course, added pottery to the activities list, and were planning on putting in big screen TV's in all the units, etc.? Why? Only one reason to give me $100. To get something in return. It has to be a "sales" job.
      ==================================================

      To your question as why would anyone give freebies away for nothing is simple! First if a owner comes to learn of the UPDATES in the near future they know what is going on and may have friends that like the resort and talk to you about it thinking of buying. Also the better run resorts do this because they actually make improvements all the time and have news for the owners. Our resort has been remodeling every year and making changes and improvements that owners have talked about at these updates! Our resort has plans for two years in advance so they always stay within budget. This compared to other resorts that do nothing and then hit owners with special assessments to do repairs after problems happen! I doubt these resorts ever have updates because until they need owners extra money they have nothing to update.

      Our resort gives away small gifts like the Ridge jacket I won last July worth $89.95 and only sold at the resort store. Other gifts are bottles of wine or discounts to store or dinner so most our freebies come from the resort to be used at the resort(in house only). They as many good timeshare resorts understand the best advertising is word of mouth from happy owners and maybe this is why so many owners have more than one week like us.
      There is nothing better than happy owners as I am sure you have read all the whining and complaining from many owners of timeshare resorts they bought into.
      ==================================================

      Also, you were told that Bluegreen (as you said "who ever that is") was a system with 54 resorts in it and you should have read what forum you were posting in.
      Most of us in the "Bluegreen Resorts" forum are Bluegreen owners. But not all. We welcome comments from others in that it adds to our knowledge and understanding of how things work elsewhere. We learn about resorts we might want to trade into, buy into, or avoid.
      ==================================================

      Maybe you should get your facts straight before running your mouth off! I had already posted before being rudely told this was a Blue Green forum this posting was about! No where as I stated in earlier post was this stated or I would have never wasted my time with people like yourself!

      I found this subject under new post and it asked(Can anyone share what they received from attending owner update). This may be a shock to you but many timeshare owners out there probably never heard BG or what it meant! Maybe the post should have stated " Can anyone owning a Blue Green resort share what they received from attending owner update".

          Phil, Phil, Phil,

          I went to New Posts and this is what I found for one entry:

          Question Can anyone share what they received for attending Owner Updates?
          (Multi-page thread 1 2 3 ... Last Page)
          Ediesbeads Today 04:08 PM by bfdretired
          Go to last post 47 2,465 Bluegreen Resorts

          It tells you that the message is in the "Bluegreen Resorts" forum even before you click on it. Of course, when you click on it, at the top is says you are in the Bluegreen Resorts forum.

          I guess that takes care of "No Where".

          Did everyone at your "Update" get an $89.95 jacket? Or were you the lucky one. (By the way, a $100 check cost $100. How much did your jacket cost the resort?)

          Did you not wonder why so many people were saying they got this or they got that. They weren't winning a door prize.

          Phil, I like BG so much that I have enough points to stay at least 4 weeks ocean front, 2 bedroom at ShoreCrest.

          Regarding being a shock to me, if you would read all of my note you would see that I acknowledge that most people don't know about Bluegreen.

          Finally, regarding rudeness, being nicely told that people who post in the Bluegreen Resorts forum assume that people will talk about Bluegreen Resorts and when not talking about BG (BG is short for Bluegreen) they will say something like "Owners Updates are different at my resort. Do I really understand what you guys and gals are saying?" Instead you chose to tell us that we can't tell the difference between your Owners Update and a Sales Presentation. And then you "laugh" at us. Now that is out and out rudeness. By the by, we Bluegreen Owners complain all the time that Bluegreen calls the sales presentation an Owners Update. Of course, we do need something to complain about.

            BFD Retired, Don't worry about it. There are two Bluegreen parts to this forum, the one where this was posted is a general Bluegreen. There is another area, Timeshare Home Associations Organizations, and that is only seen by registered Bluegreen owners.

            Nothing was hurt by where the question was asked, and really, there wasn't any problem by Phill12 checking in. The problem got to be when some of the comments got kind of skewed and then answers got to be kind of short and sharp (this is me trying to be diplomatic).

            No one got hurt, well, maybe some feelings, but we are all here to learn from the experience of others. So, as was said, think vacation.

              Ok, Phil, here's the deal - Bluegreen has a website with news we can access and they send out a magazine quarterly that discusses renovations/improvements and events/activities. So we don't need to go to an update to get information on what's going on, we get that all year long. On ALL of the resorts. Onsite updates can be helpful to get more detail or find news not yet disseminated to owners.

              Since you've not heard of BG before, then you should know that they do keep their resorts up and I find them to be good stewards of the $ they collect from us.

              While word of mouth from happy owners is indeed good advertising, it doesn't make a sale. Sales people make a sale. With many locations, BG is nothing like your resort. A sale is most easily made with a vacationer happily enjoying the resort. So happy vacationers are invited to "updates", which are private meetings, not groups. Depending on who your rep is, you either get a pleasant exchange about the bennies of BG or a hard sell.

              I'm all for you showing up and sharing info, but I do not appreciate your attitude. If you check into the Bluegreen forums then you should expect Bluegreen talk. Ok, fine, you didn't know you were in the BG forum, that's cool, but it was your error which has been gently pointed out to you and yet you continue to lash out and it's just so unnecessary. I thought everyone was pretty kind but it seems you have been angered. Sorry about that, but can we all just cool this down??

                  I had the option of $50 gift card, or $60 in local dinners but told her I would settle for nothing less than a check, no gift cards and the dinners were of little value.

                  But after today,
                  NEVER AGAIN.
                  I will not go to another owner update when the sales people know less than I do.
                  NEVER
                  EVER
                  NO WAY.

                  I have made this promise to my wife, so I have to stick to it now.

                    This week at Lodge Alley we received two harbor tour tickets and $50 for local restaurants. Took them up on the offer, got out of the presentation in record time, enjoyed the tour and used the restaurant GCs to cover two lunches. We're happy.

                      We were at Wilderness Club at Big Cedar last week. We were called the day before our check in date with an offer of $100 in Big Cedar bucks. I said no and told her why.

                      When we had settled into our cabin, we went to talk to the gal at the front desk to see what may be scheduled for events during our stay. Very little is what I found out. This is BC weakness, they don't do well with activities, you are on your own for pretty much everything. But...if I attended the owner update, I could get $100 in Big Ceder bucks. I told her I had already turned that down. She upped the offer by saying she would give us the Wed evening Sunset Cruise. It is a party boat with some drinks and food for about 40 owners, and we could get the bucks and the sunset cruise if we attended. We still said no.

                      We ended up with a bill of just over $100 where the bucks would have been nice to have been used to paid that down. But what was nice is not having to sit with the sales staff.

                          Offered $75 Visa card at Patrick Henry last week. Turned it down as we had done an update at Harbour Lights the month before for $100.

                              I have done a free owners update at the Fountains. Went in there and asked to speak to sales mgr, and she gave me a 10 minute rundown on what would take normally 1 hour. then tried to sell me more points - which was fine.

                              Best thing was wife didn't have to attend. She hates those things. Feels like she's taking money from the poor salesman by knowing we are not going to purchase anything. I am a little less unsympathetic to the timeshare salesman lot, but still feel once someone knows about resale, forget the Visa gift card.
