  • Harbour Lights - Good news - Hard Rock Park

I have just returned from a week at Harbour Lights and am proud to say loved the resort even though the clubhouse and the pools were closed.

The GOOD news is Hard Rock park is re-opening Memorial Day weekend. You can really walk to the park from Harbour Lights.

From watching the MB News every night I was quite happy that the park is re-opening. The company that purchased the park must have gotten an unbelievable deal. While there last week got to watch many of the rides doing test run after test run. a few nights they powered up all thie lights and such. The must have gotten the park for pennies on the dollar as they are even in legal battles with the designers of the park and will have to change any "Hard Rock" logos and change names on the Led Zeppelin Roller coaster and The Eagles Roller Coaster. This must be done before opening day.

They had a Job Fair last Tuesday and the parking lot was packed.

This project was MUCH MUCH more than what we hear from the news or the postings here or OY. The city of MB started construction of a new overpass and High Way exits from 501 to handle the traffic and that also came to a screaching halt upon Hard Rock filing bankruptcy. The work resumed last week also.

The unbelievable thing is that the Mayor John Rhodes has actually stopped the May bike weeks. Is he insane? The entire month of May is the biggest tourism week in MB. If you are planning on attending this year be aware that Bike week is cancelled in MB North MB and all the burbs surronding MB atill have everything going o. While you can not be arrested for riding a bike in to MB city limits. They do have helmet laws and from waht I got from the MB police officer that was also staying at the resort is they are being pushed to "Write Tickets" for not complying with the helmet law.

This gives MB police a reason to pull you over. They at that point can give you breathilizer or even a BA test if you refuse the Breathillizer.

The city of MB is also in process of adding another penny to Hotel/Resort taxes to help cover some lost revenue from a slow tourist season.

All in all YEAH for Hardrock Park reopening. I am starting to plan my next trip already.

Glad you enjoyed the Myrtle Beach area. We were in North Myrtle Beach at Shore Crest 1 in March. This was our third time there.

Now a correction. Bike week has not been cancelled or stopped. There are no events or activities in the City of Myrtle Beach, but then, that has never been the location for the events, just bar sites and a road between locations. The bike events are throughout Horry County, North Myrtle to a minor level, but Murrells Inlet and other areas is where the Bike Week events are scheduled. There are a lot of roads around Myrtle Beach to get to and from the events. Anyone wanting to go Myrtle just needs to put on a helmet. So, really no big changes.

More details are found at the official site.

Yes, it is wonderful news that Hard Rock park will open again. From what you have said, however, I am guessing it will also have a new name. Was anything said about that? Interesting about the highway construction and I'm glad MB is back to working on that.

Yes the Hard Rock name will not be used. In todays news they announced the new name. Freestyle Music Park. Freestylin' it: Hard Rock Park in SC gets new name - Forbes.com It will be interesting as they have named the street from 501 to the park Hardrock Parkway.
