  • Common Bonus Time Resorts

Hello, I'm interested in better understanding the availability of resorts for use with bonus time.

I'm currently working on getting points with Jim's help. So I don't have access to the online Bonus Time reservation site (from previous posts I believe such a thing exists).

Can you please share from your experiences what resorts are more commonly available for bonus time usage (I understand it depends upon time of year), I'm expecting that some resorts are more commonly available than others but I may be surprised. So please let me know what you have seen.

Specifically I'm interested in the Wisconsin Odyssey (sp?) resort (since we live closer to Wisconsin than other BG resorts), but I would like to hear what you have seen in general. From Jim's posts it appears there is quite a bit of availability which makes bonus time very attractive.

Note: We have a family of six so I guess I'm mostly interested in room availability that would work for 6 (This may dramatically decrease options, if so just let me know. I'm really curious).

    Thanks!

We live in IL, so Wisconsin Dells is a good choice for us as well. I have found that Oddesy Dells is never available for Bonus time (at least never when I have checked). I don't think they have a large number of units at that site... but they are planning more? I HAVE however found bonus time at Christmas Mountain Village (also in the Dells) pretty available. They don't have the free water park, but they give free tickets to the waterpark with a owner update, and they have lots to do on the property for free! They have mini golf, several pools (indoor and outdoor) paddle boats, and canoes. They also have skiing and sledding in the winter for $$ and Golf (I think?) in the summer for $$. So it's a pretty good stay!

That's too bad, I was really hoping that the waterpark would be an option (maybe it will be more readily available later...), though it sounds like CMV is a nice resort too.

Have you ever stayed at Odyssey using points? If so, can you let me know how it was?

Also what other resorts have you been able to use bonus points and at what time of the year?

      Thanks!

I haven't stayed at Odyssey, but I've toured the rooms. That's where I bought my first lot of points! Now I think they do all sales over at CMV for the area. The rooms are pretty small (check out the floor plans on the bluegreen website), but they are nicely furnished. The big bonus for that site is free admission to the waterpark. I'm not sure if free admission to the outdoor waterpark and amusement park is included during the warm season, or if it requires a separate fee. We went one summer season and stayed in a little cottage over at CMV (all that was available last minute) and we drove over to the water and amusement park. Of course there are TONS of other water and amusement parks available in the Dells too, so if you are going to pay for park admission, you can try out Noah's Ark, or any of the other bigger parks out there! We usally went as soon as they opened, then took a break back at the cottage for lunch and rest, then went back late afternoon and into the evening. Food was pricey at the park, so we filled up at lunch time, and just had a quick snack at the park for dinner.

Oh, wanted to add, we currently have Bonus Time at Patrick Henry Square for Memorial Day weekend (I jumped on THAT the minute it was available to reserve as bonus time). I've noticed that several of the higher point resort (Fountains, Daytona SeaBreeze to name a couple) are often available for bonus time, but you have to reserve it online as SOON as the 48 day window hits. We've had good luck getting really nice resorts with bonus time, but only when I'm really on the ball for making reservations.

        Have fun!
