  • New Bonus Time policy

Just this past week, Bluegreen has changed its policy regarding Bonus Time. It used to be that you would pay for 1 nights stay of your bonus time reservation at booking. It would be fully refunded if you cancelled more than 72-hours from check in.

Now, Bluegreen requires you to pay for the entire stay at time of booking. It is fully refundable as always greater than 72-hours from check in. And, if you cancel after that, you only are charged 1 night stay.

Bluegreen is obviously doing this to capture the float on your money.

    Still a great deal

I don't mind them getting the float money...it's still the greatest thing. I'm off to Solara Surfside this afternoon! Four nights over Easter for $200...I'll pay ahead of time for that, no problem!

Here is another policy change to Bluegreen bonus time. In the past, you could only book 2 nights minimum for bonus time. That left many stranded days where a unit would remain unoccupied.

Now, Bluegreen has updated its policy to allow booking of single nights for bonus time. But, you still need to pay for 2 nights.

I must admit, this is pretty smart. It turns an empty room into revenue and profit. There is an extra housekeeping. But, they pay the housekeeping staff whether they clean that room or not so there is very little incremental cost.

Higher occupancy rate = higher profit for resort manager = lower costs for owners.

I am Sam. Sam I am. Extend you stay. A day anyway.

Bonus time rocks. Let's sing and Jam.

Would you like some points with your green eggs and ham?

        Sounds like Cendant "BoGus Time"
I know at least one BG affiliate that has a two night minimum. BG probably had to satisfy them with the new rule. I have been standing in the office of that resort and seen several people looking for a night's lodging just walk off over the minimum and in the offseason. We'll never know how many pass on the Internet. Maybe there is lower occupancy rate due to the minimum, but it works out due to costs?

At Christmas Mountain, they have let you stay one bonus night and pay for two for quite some time. We did it 4 or 5 years ago and when i was waiting to check in last summer, I overheard them offering it to someone who had shown up on Friday for a Sat check in. that amounted to $129 after tax for a small cottage unit for one night, it was a deal, but not a great deal.
