  • Is $2 a point good--help???

Some called me from US Timeshare MG wanting to sell me BG points at $2 per point.

    Is that good?

How do I know they are legit??

    Susan,

That is a very bad deal. Just ignore them.

      I agree, that's a terrible price.

I got a call yesterday by someone wanting to rent my points for 5 cents a point. Ouch. She was a broker/dealer that wanted to then list my points for sale, which I don't want to sell at this time, but I do have more points than I can use this year. But 5 cents...that isn't good.

She was going to charge YOU five cents per point to list them for rent? OR was offering you five cents per point to rent them for you. Actually, five cents per point right now isn't all that bad. The rental market is VERY difficult right now. That's still a little low but right now I am pleased if I can cover my costs.

The hardest part is everyone wants to make last minute plans for specific dates and that's very hard to do, especially when they want the busy times.

From a non-authorized reseller (which this company would be), you can buy points for $.25 per point. Heck you probably can do better than $2 per point from Bluegreen directly. From an authorized reseller (Pinnacle Vacations), you can buy them for $.50 per point and get all the benefits you would get if you bought from Bluegreen directly.

But your question of how do you know if they are legit........................could someone give some direction to people as to what to do regarding due diligence to find out if a seller is legit or not? That might be a GREAT sticky for a moderator to put on.

She was going to give me 5 cents per point so she could re-rent them.

Back in the 'olden days', a year or two ago, you would likely be able to get 7-10 cents per point depending on when and where. Now it is just 5 cents.

              Don,

I know many of us book units to rent but how does one rent out points? Did she specifically mention how she was going to rent out points?

I agree that 5 cents is brutal. That will just cover maintenance fees depending on how many points you spread the $310 base fee over.

I am not sure how this whole thing was going to happen. I understood that I had to sign some papers to release XXX points to her. She would then find renters and in turn would try to 'show how good owning a timeshare is and that the renters can have this just by buying the points'. I have heard this is done as a way to get people into the timeshare. Not unlike the weekend stays that a lot of resorts do to get people to see how nice it can be. Had she gone to 7-8 cents, I would have done it.
