I am currently at 20,000 pts silver level.....we very much enjoy bluegreen....we use all of our points...trying to conserve as much as possible....we tried renting to help offset maint fees but market is poor and my personal networking has not worked.....

should i go gold?

The only reasons for a silver member to go gold are:

1) Need more points so you (or friends and family) can travel more.
2) Need more points because you are very successful at renting.
3) Need gold level so you can get on the wait list earlier.

The reason for a silver member not to go gold is:
1) It costs more in maintenance fees.

The tone of your letter suggests that you would like to travel more but really can't afford it. On the personal level, unless you are anticipating some kind of windfall, I would not go gold. I also would advise against borrowing money to purchase a timeshare for personal use. I have seen too many cases of people who can no longer make their payments because of job problems or health problems.

That being said, you can pick up some good bargains in today's climate. If you figure that when the market turns around you will be able to rent successfully, then that's a business decision.

If I may add to Charles list for the not going to gold:
2) If time, travel cost, or health restricts your ability to use all your points.
3) If you are unable to use your points (as listed in #2 above) and not able to rent the unused points.

I think the reasons for and against must be looked at before you go forward. You need to determine your need or obstacles for making that move.

thanks all for replys ... if i had more success in renting i think i would go for the gold.....
we are only able to travel so much and with wise use of my points at the silver level we seem to have enough
