As a Pono Kai week owner (Bluegreen vacation club) I do not have access to BG Bonus Time but have been told that Bonus Time is available to me through PSE. Has anyone had experience with PSE?

Wait a second, I'm confused: do you own a fixed week at Pono Kai AND Bluegreen Vacation Club? Or, is your Pono Kai a Points week??

BGVC members get bonus time, so I'm not sure how you could be a member and not get bonus time.

As to the original question, I've not heard of this program (PSE). Is it supposed to give you bonus time at all Bluegreen resorts or is it some other deal?

We own a float week @ Pono Kai. The resort is managed by Bluegreen but we are not a points or BG Vacation Club member. Apparently it is possible for a fee to convert to BGVC but we have not done so. I was told that PSE is a group of resorts that offer bonus time. Pono Kai participates in PSE so we would have access to Bonus Time @ Pono Kai and other member resorts. This is completely separate frm BGVC Bonus Time.

I have nothing but good things to say about PSE. Both Desert Breezes ( since moved out of the system ) and Havasu Dunes participated.

I have stayed at Pono Kai, Desert Breezes, Laguna Surf and San Luis Bay Inn. Free exchanges and no annual fee. You also get a sister resort preference within RCI weeks. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

The following resorts have been members of Preferred Status since prior to Jan. 1994:

EXCHANGE YOUR USE TIME
You may exchange your Use Time for any available comparable accommodations/seasons at any other Preferred Status resort with
NO EXCHANGE FEE*. You may book as early as ten (10) months in advance.

BONUS TIME & PREFERRED TIME
Bonus Time is a member's privilege to use unoccupied space at a member's home resort. This space is available when a reservation is cancelled or the time remains unbooked. Preferred Status Exchange gives you the benefit of utilizing Bonus Time at other Preferred Status resorts. This is called Preferred Time. Book your reservation as early as thirteen (13) days in advance. Preferred Time reservations must include a minimum of two nights. Preferred Time rates are set by the board of Directors at each resort and are subject to change without notice.

SPLIT YOUR TIME
You may split your week at your own resort or at other Preferred Status resorts into a minimum of two (2) nights per reservation. You will be charged $30.00 when you make your second reservation and if you make a third reservation. You may book a Split Week reservation at other Preferred Status resorts as early as nine (9) months in advance. Only one weekend may be utilized per Split Week. Only full weeks may be carried over to the following year and any unused days are forfeited (see Freedom Plus).

UPGRADE YOUR USE TIME
You may upgrade your unit type or season for only $30.00 per night for the first level of upgrade and an additional $5.00 per night for each additional level of upgrade you desire. You may book an Upgrade reservation at your home resort and most Preferred Status resorts as early as six (6) months in advance.

CARRY OVER YOUR USE TIME WITH FREEDOM PLUS
With Preferred Status you have the benefit of Freedom Plus. This program allows you to carry over your unused use week to the year immediately following at no charge if you contact reservations by March 31 to Freedom Plus your week to the following year. A $35 fee will be charged if you wait until June 30 to carry forward your week. You must call and make your reservation within the first six (6) months of the following year or the carried over week is forfeited. Weeks can only be carried over one year. You may cancel your carry over for a $15.00 fee. Only full weeks are eligible for Freedom Plus. Fractions of weeks are not eligible for carry over. Any unused are forfeited.

* Owners at 4 Seasons and The Villas pay $49.00 to Preferred Status per Use Time exchange into the other Preferred Status Exchange resorts; for Preferred Time, a $5.00 per night surcharge will be added to the Preferred Time rates. A $49.00 fee will be charged for each Villas Freedom Plus Use Time week.

RESERVATION TIPS
Please make your reservation request as early as possible. Be flexible with your requested dates. For Bonus Time or Preferred Time, call as early as allowed and call up to the last minute in case of cancellations.

Monday - Friday: 7am-8pm
Saturday: 8am-5pm (Pacific Standard Time)
Sunday: Closed

Cancellation of Reservations:
There is a $15.00 fee to change or cancel any confirmed reservation.

There are no reservation fees for using your USE TIME exchanges and Preferred Time exchanges.

Sorry, alittle attention deficit problem. Lauren, I see that you have used PSE several times. Any tricks to know? Are there good times to call? Besides saving the exchange fee, are you more likely to get into those resorts than going through RCI, especially during peak season?

See and I thought you were querying Bonus Time at Pono Kai, which I have not used.

They have never told me "no" to any request I have made of them. Just call exactly 10 months out, first thing in the morning, pacific time. If I remember correctly I got the July week at Pono Kai 7 or 8 months out but I wouldn't take any chances. The other two I booked 10 months out.

I haven't done an internal exchange since April 2003 though. It's a good system and the people are very nice. Just call the toll free number I listed above and then prompt 1.

Maybe it is time to think about going back to Hawaii for summer 2008.

When I reserve my Pono Kai week, I do it thru Bluegreen. They once told me that they handled PSE exchanges also, but I trust you guys more than them to give me the right answer! So you are saying that I need to reserve my week and then call the number above to do an internal exchange, right?

Holly that is a question for Allikai2 (greg) to answer. I own 2 resorts with PSE affiliation but neither of them is Pono Kai or BlueGreen, so I can't give you a knowledgeable response to your question.
