  • Last minute trip to Orlando?

Hello to all...we are about to make our first reservations with Bluegreen. We wanted to check out Shorecrest after reading all the reviews, but with my uncertain vacation dates for 2009...we had to settle for only being able to schedule a trip a little over one month in advance. Of course, most places are booked full for July. I noticed Orlando has openings...how is the Orlando Sunshine Resort I/II??? The points needed are less than half for The Fountains in Orlando? Is The Fountains that much better? Being that we will only be sleeping in the room since most of our time will be spent in the parks...is the Sunshine Resort a decent place to stay?
Thanks in advance for any replies!

I have always liked Orlando Sunshine Resort it is a small resort with 1 tennis court 1 pool and not much more to offer. No crowdsat the pool but tought to get tennis court once the sun starts to set and the temps drop to cool enough to play in July.

The Fountains are very nice with alot more amenities. Nice lake, nice clubhouse, and many activities for the younger ones. Also closer to the Disney parks. I would probably make my decision on how many points are available. But if I had enough would probably choose The Fountains over the other.

Our first vacation with BG was at the Sunshine Resort II. Building I was already booked up since it takes less points to stay there. We stayed in building II.

The rooms were very nice with everything needed and is very near Universal and the big water park. It's a block off International Drive, though. Plus is there are lots of restaurants and shows nearby. You can probably take the bus up and down the strip. Minus is the resort only has the pool and tennis court so if you want to hang out there is not much to do. About the same amenities as a hotel only nicer.

Thanks for the replies...being that we will never be at the resort other than to sleep, I can't see paying extra for The Fountains. If we were staying somewhere else, I may need the extra amenities, but not in Orlando.
        Thanks again!

Just there a month or so ago. Very nice. I would not hesitate to recommend it. Excellent staff.

Great to hear...thanks for the reply BoardGirl. It's always sketchy when you are booking a new place.

We have stayed at the Sunshine Resort on two occassions and it is really a nice resort, just small and few amenities. For the points...very well worth it. Last year, we stayed there and decided to go to the Fountains for a couple of hours (day-use) to check out the new pool, etc. Kids loved it!!! It was really nice and we enjoyed it, but for the points and if you are not going to be there much...stay at the Sunshine resort and swing by the fountains for a visit and to see their facilities.

Had not even thought about that...great idea. What do you need to do to gain access to other BG properties? Form of ID, call ahead, or what?
                Thanks!

Check Day Use policy on web site

I have never used "Day Use". On the BG Web Site, Sunshine, and many other resorts, have the following statement:

"Day use policy: Club owners not staying at the resort must call prior to arrival to ensure availability for day use. First priority given to resort occupants. Guaranteed/flex owners refer to their association rules."

Fountains does not have this statement. Perhaps the Fountains is so large that a few day use people would be lost in the crowd. Probably a large numbers of those staying at the Fountains are gone seeing Mickey, etc., and day use is not a problem.

I have a BG VC Membership Card that I carry for resort ID but I have only used it to check out golf clubs at Christmas Mountain.
