We just returned about a month ago. The Aquarium in the center of town of Gatlinburg is not to be missed if you are into aquariums. Great layout of space and exhibits.
We went to Cades Cove twice, got there pretty early in the morning and saw quite a few bears and other animals. Look in the trees for the bears, I think we saw several that were still sleeping and also saw three little cubs.
Some of the photo opportunities in the park are quite fantastic. If you take your time, expect to spend several hours along the dirt road in Cades Cove.
Roaring Fork Motor rd is interesting with lots of places to visit.
We also went to the artist's area. You could spend a good part of the day going into little stores with local artisan work. I bought some pottery at Smoky Mountain Pottery..great selection.
If your into knives..there's a huge store in Seiverville that sells anything with a blade. I think it's called knifeworks.
Restaurants: We ate at Best Italian, which is tucked behind some stores..it's around back down near the Cherokee Grill, actually before you get to the Cherokee Grill. The Italian food was pretty good, reasonable price, good portions. Ate there twice.
Cherokee Grill- Good food, service and atmosphere....ate there twice.
Wild Plum Tea Room- near the artists colony...small place, closes early. They have some pretty interesting meals, decent prices. Nice place...
Log Cabin Pancake house--Ate there several mornings because we could walk ( stayed at Gatlinburg Town Square)
Old Mill in Pigeon Forge- good prices, okay food
If you like pancakes...there is a pancake place on every corner.
Great area to visit...Have a good trip -
My wife and I travel to Gatlinburg quite frequently. You and your spouse will want to have one dinner at the Greenbriar Restaurant, an old log cabin built many years ago. Very good food and athmosphere. It is located very close to Bluegreen's Mountain Loft Resort. Other fine dining includes The Peddler, Bear Creek Grill, Linebergers, Howards Restaurant, Smoky Mountain Trout House, and The Alamo among others. There are many others to choose from. The previous post covered Cades Cove and Roaring Fork. Take your picnic lunch with you to Cades Cove and stop at a campground, relax, enjoy the stream and scenery. Also, you may want to go to Newfound Gap where NC meets TN. Another 15-20 miles beyond Newfound Gap takes you to Cherokee, NC. You are officially on the Reservation and may want to try your luck at Harrahs Casino, or tour the Cherokee village. The drive from Gatlinburg is about 30 miles, but is slow due to the mountainous terrain. There are a couple of shows in Gatlinburg. Most of the show theatres are in Pigeon Forge (about 5 miles from Gatlinburg). The Dixie Stampede provides a good dinner show. A drive through the Art Community is a must. This community is close to Mt. Loft Resort. A Bluegrass band plays during the evenings on the Gatlinburg strip (I think they play every evening during the summer). The premiere shopping venue is the Five Oaks Mall in Sevierville/Pigeon Forge. Nearby is the Applewood Farmhouse Grille, located just off the strip. The Chop House Restaurant is located on site. Other chain restaurants line the strip in this area. I hope you have a great time, and that you find the Tennessee hospitality to be warm and welcoming.Comment

Liked it very much. It was within walking distance to Gatlinburg center. Roaring Fork Motor trail is right up the road. We had a 2 bedroom LO...washer dryer in the unit, which was nice.
Log Cabin pancake house is across the street, there is also a mexican place across the street, both with decent food. Parking is underground, unless your vehicle won't fit, then they have parking on the first level. There was WI-Fi internet service within the unit, but you have to pay for it. There's a hot spot near the club house, but I didn't use it because at the time, the place was crawling with Carpenter bees!!. They don't sting and are there in May to Mid-June ( the maintenance guy told us).
Not a lot of activities, as a matter of fact, I don't remember any, but then again we had our own agenda.
The kitchen was well stocked, furniture was in good shape. We had the windows and back door open as the weather was really nice.
If you're interested in the fitness center..3 machines, 1 treadmill, 1 eliptical and 1 bike.
Staff was very friendly upon check-in. We did have to wait to check-in as we were early, but did return at 4pm for check-in.Comment

The timeshare hawks on the street will worry you to death. Just say NO!
GTS: Location is the best thing about that place, old.
