if an associate resort has a vacancy on the web site....for example sept 25 2009 2br etc.....and i try to book it ...will they honor the booking or can they cancel it because they need the inventory for themselves?

what advantage is there to be on the wait list? ...

    thanks for any help......

Not sure what you mean by "can they cancel it because they need the inventory for themselves?"

If inventory shows up in the online reservation system, it is owner inventory. If you book it, it's yours. Not sure why you think that Bluegreen can for any reason cancel that reservation.

The only way they will cancel it if it was an error in the system and there wasn't really anything available.

The wait list question is separate. The waitlist allows you to be the first to book available inventory before it is made available to everyone else in the Club. The clear advantage of doing so is so that you can grab a unit before they are all gone.

this is important for resorts and weeks where demand is far greater than supply of units.

The advantage of the wait list is you can "get in line" sooner. At the eleven month mark, unless someone has claimed the unit(s) they own, those units go into the rental pool, and are available to any club member. If the units at that particular resort are limited (as is the case with most associate resorts), then it may be that only those at the top of the wait list get in. Even when it comes to owned resorts, there look to me to be particular units (presidential or 2 bedroom ocean front or whatever) that the wait list clears out, or clears out some seasons, so if you don't have preferred status, you aren't likely to get them.

If you want those particular units the wait list is a huge advantage, maybe even a necessity. If you're happy with the multiple options that you can get into pretty easily without the wait list, then it's not that big a deal.

        Edit:

Missed that Boca answered the wait list question already. Guess I should have had some caffeine this morning.

If inventory is available, first person on the wait list gets the unit. Bluegreen reserves it in your name and deducts the points from your account. You don't have to do anything. (However, I still do check just in case my wait list request was confusing or gets missed.)

If inventory is still available, it goes to the next one on the wait list. If five units are available and only two are on the wait list, then 3 units are available 11 months out.
