  • Premier benefits question..

I currently own 11K points. If I was to upgrade to bronze and then buy a batch (lets say 10K) points on the secondary market, would my bronze benefits apply to the points that are not counted towards the membership level?

By policy, the answer is "no." In reality, it depends on what features you mean.

For instance, you cannot use non-qualified points to pay for maintenance fees.

However, you can still use them for wait list reservations.

You're intending to end up with 26000 points at the end, I think? Buy the 10000 points on the resale market first and then upgrade with Boca Bum to get to the bronze level and I believe he can upgrade the whole shebang for you. I rather suspect if you bought all the new points from him he'd still give you a better deal than buying second hand and then upgrading through the developers. And you'd be silver rather than bronze.

Interesting. But this is only true if you have enough authorized points to qualify for Premiere level, yes?

Thats what I was thinking of. For me, the biggest incentive to get to premier would be the waitlist. I figure @ bronze, your probably ahead of 75% of everyone else....

Yep. We intend to get at least 16000 points by the end of next year, and the only practical reason we'd have to get them authorized is the waitlist. Although going on what's available this year, we can get pretty much everything we want for the next five years or so without it; it might save us a few thousand points next summer because of where and when my brother wants to get together with us, but that's it. And since there are only two of the unit that would save us the points, not sure it'd do that. But it's pretty clear that your odds of getting some units are slim to none if you can't get on the waitlist.

I'd kind of like to get authorized points just because I see that as supporting Bluegreen expansion and upgrades, but since hubby's opposed to my vacationing without him and he only gets three weeks off a year (not all of which will be Bluegreen vacations), unauthorized points will already get us more places we want to go than we'll be able to get to for some years.
