  • bluegreen/diamond ?

Wife and I attended a Wyndham sales presentation two weeks ago in Branson. Sales people spent more time telling us how it was widely known "in the industry" that Diamond is buying Bluegreen. They said that when that happens, Bluegreen members will not be happy about it because Diamond will convert our points to fixed week(s) OR we will have to pay exorbitant fees to stay with the bluegreen points that we now have. That was the basis of their sales presentation as to why we should buy Wyndham.

Sounded like a desperation sales pitch to us. I have not heard anything about a proposed sale of Bluegreen.

Have any of you heard of this?

    almost happened

It nearly happened last year. As I recall, Diamond backed away during due diligence, unable to secure the financing. I'm sure someone else has more info on whether the deal is still on the table.

It is a desperate stretch and contortion of the truth. Before the US meltdown, Diamond had an offer to buy Bluegreen, a publicly traded company for something like $15/share, Diamond never did it and the meltdown took BG to the bottom. There was much discussion on these forums that you could read if you liked.

If the saleswoman's mouth was moving, she was lying.

That's funny. That sales person is so clueless that it would be like a person screaming at the top of their lungs warning about the new constitutional amendment related to prohibition (of alcohol)...... only after that amendment was repealed.

Two rules to listening to a timeshare salesman talk.

            1. Never believe a timeshare salesman when he talks about another developer.

            2. Never believe a timeshare salemans when he talks about the resort he's working for.

Yes DRI was going to purchase Bluegreen but, it is widely known throughout the timeshare industry the the deal fell through. I guess he's just out of the loop or, he's using that old technique of trying to scare you into buying his timeshare.

I've been told things such as, Disney is going to build a theme park in Branson and that Marriott has done so bad with timeshares that it's left the industry. I've heard that Marriott own RCI. That Marriott owns Interval International. Various timeshare developers are going bankrupt. That timeshare I own that are 5 star (now premier) aren't really 5 star/Premier resorts, that their resort is the #1 requested resort for their destination and their destination/location is the #1 requested vacation spot with RCI/Interval et....... I guess I should start writting down all the lies, half truths and misrepresentations I hear and put them into book form.

NEVER be concerned with what a timeshare salesman tells you. Especially if he's running down a timeshare you own. All they know is what their sales manager tells them and they don't know spit. If you want good information, you'll read it here.
