  • Reservation errors and remedy

We just came back from a weekend at CMV. Booked at the 11 month mark last year.

We reserved the 2bd and 1 bd lock-off timber. Bluegreen due to overbooking moved our 1 bd into a different unit, so they were no longer adjoined. Of course 4 days after we came home Bluegreen has claimed responsibility that it was their error. Orignal reservations (they were seperated not combined 3 bd).

First offer of remedy they will refund our 4100 pts for the 1 bd side, I declined due to the fact they would be rolled over points that expire in 14 days. I offered 4100 rolled pts that would expire 8/31/2010, next year's anniversary date. They declined. Their second offer is 4100 customer satisfaction points. We are gold so we already have access to free weeks of white and blue, which is what this is for.

Has anyone else had this happen, if so what were you able to agree to.

Future reference for anyone. Make sure your reservation has notations to the lock-offs being adjoined or make sure you have 1 reservation for combined total of bedrooms, ie 3 bd not 2bd and 1 bd.

    Thanks,
    Justine

I'm confused. Did you originaly reserve the two separate units, or did you reserved a three BR and they wrote it up as a 2BR and 1 BR?

You remind me that we really need to check on our Harbour Lights reservation. Hubby added a day to the original reservation, but what we got was two separate reservations for the same size unit. He said they assured him we wouldn't have to move in the middle there, but I have my doubts. I wouldn't care that much if it just meant moving our luggage, but moving all the kitchen stuff is a pain.

Bluegreen definitely made an error in the reservation process. When booking a lock off unit, they are supposed to annotate the two reservations you get so that the resort keeps you together.

If you were denied a unit, you should be entitled to full reinstatement of your points. However, you were given a unit. You just weren't given an adjoining room. In this case, if they offer you any additional points, I would take them. They are providing you with compensation for a mess up on their part.

This is the difference between lost enjoyment vs. lost time. You didn't lose time to their error, only some enjoyment out of your stay.

If you were to buy the vacation guard insurance listed on the website and couldn't keep your vacation for illness/weather/etc, vacation guard would reimburse the maintenance fees for the points used on that reservation.

Could BG do a similar thing? It never hurts to ask.
