Cibola Vista Resort and Spa Now Available to Bluegreen Vacation Club(R) Members
BOCA RATON, Fla., Sep 08, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Bluegreen Corporation (NYSE: BXG), a leading provider of Colorful Places to Live and Play(R), today announced that it has entered into agreements to manage the operations, sales and marketing, and loan servicing activities for Cibola Vista Resort and Spa, beginning in October 2009. As part of the relationship between Cibola and Bluegreen, the Cibola Vista Resort and Spa, located in the Phoenix suburb of Peoria, Arizona, will become part of Bluegreen's portfolio of vacation destinations.
Cibola Vista Resort and Spa is a luxury vacation ownership resort located between the popular Lake Pleasant recreational area and the city of Phoenix, and is in close proximity to the Arizona Cardinals' stadium and numerous Major League Baseball spring training venues. The resort boasts amenities including a spa, fitness center, two pools, meeting rooms and equestrian programs, in a western village-themed environment. A total of 204 units, including studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and penthouse accommodations, are offered in Spanish Colonial-designed buildings.

"Our property was designed to appeal to travelers looking for an Old West vacation experience with the comforts and amenities of today," said Neil Cumsky, President and CEO of Princeton Resorts Group, the developer of Cibola Vista. "Combining Bluegreen service with this unique resort experience will further establish Cibola Vista as one of the premier destination resorts in the Southwest, while at the same time provide our owners with the breadth of services offered by Bluegreen."

"This turnkey relationship extends the Bluegreen Vacation Club(R) footprint into another new, high-demand vacation destination," said Bluegreen's President and CEO John M. Maloney, Jr. "Resort options in the Southwest, especially in popular golf and outdoor destinations like Phoenix, are an attractive alternative for our vacation club owners."

Mr. Maloney continued, "We remain focused on expanding our business and introducing new experiences to our owners and guests, while at the same time conserving our capital. We believe our fee-based service initiatives, such as our agreement with Cibola Vista, demonstrates our continuing success in these endeavors."

So I am guessing from that news that it becomes a 'Club Associate Resort' and not a 'Club Resort'. Is this correct?

Is there anywhere that I can find the numbers of how many resorts are club and how many are associate resorts? With the additions, I have no idea anymore what is what and how many are Bluegreen resorts.

And when you did your count, how many did you come up with?

I count 38, not including the five they picked up this past year. 26 fully owned, 12 associate. It's probably a touch higher than that, because I keep remembering associate duplicates (my original tally was based on location). I expect I'm forgetting some Florida ones.

That is why I posted, because I had heard at one time there was something like 50 resorts, club and associate resorts. I thought there was a number floating around, maybe Jim had posted it or I saw it somewhere, but I wasn't going to try to count resorts.

Okay, so I did go to the website and counted. I am pretty sure they are not all listed, but I got 53 with a quick count. But that still doesn't answer the question, how many are really on the books right now, not what is showing up on the website. Based on what I can figure, there must be over 60 resorts, not counting the Select Connection resorts.

A recount shows 54 resorts listed.

I counted the ones that come up on the reservations page and got 51 (I'd missed some Florida and one in North Carolina, plus you can now reserve in Nassau). I refuse to go back and try to find the ones that kick it up to 54.

I will be interested to see if the newer ones are associate resorts or not. I tend to view associate resorts as Premiere perks, since the average owner can't get into most of them. But I had assumed that Odyssey Dells would be an associate resort and possibly tough to get into, and that is not the case on either point. And it intrigues me that they got another one in Williamsburg, since Patrick Henry Square isn't tough to get into, either. Maybe they're selling well there?

                Edit:
The owners' resort list has 52, including Nassau and the new Williamsburg one. Blue Waters and Parkside Williamsburg were listed with the Associate resorts.

                    51 Waterwood Townhouses
                    52 Windward Passage Resort

If you count Shorecrest and Orlando's Sunshine Resort as 2 resorts (different points for each building) you end up with 54. That is what is currently listed on the BG website. I don't know if it is fully up to date or what needs to be added.

I called Bluegreen, and the gal didn't even have a number for me, but we came up with the same thing I listed above, but she also said there were 4 that she didn't think were on the list. So Bluegreen has about 54-58 resorts not counting the Select Connection resorts.

                    Not a bad selection.

"Club" resorts are the ones Bluegreen owns and manages, where most of the units are available to Bluegreen. "Associate" resorts are resorts where Bluegreen only owns some of the units. It's generally easier to get into club resorts, simply because there are more units available, and the quality is more consistent as well.

Somewhat less exciting for some of us when you consider that about twenty of them are in Florida. But, yeah, enough to keep us busy for some time to come.

And the more recent additions have not been in Florida so they are moving on out! That's good! Even in the recession and harder economic times, they are still making ownership attractive! YAY, Bluegreen!

I thought some of those newer resorts (such as the newer Williamsburg and Nassau) were just for rentals--not for Vacation Club--or is that other resorts that Bluegreen has secured?

I guess you are right. Nassau is not listed in the current Points Table. Sigh.

It comes up on the reservation page, though. Curious.
