Shenandoah Crossing - Yurt - Camping in Luxury the Timeshare way.
Wanted to reply about your question about Shenandoah Crossings. They have done major upgrades there. It's very nice. They have plenty of horses on site. The new pool area and country store..I just can't say enough great things about it. We live an hour away in Richmond. My husband & I and of course the children use to only go maybe twice a year..now we go as often as we can. The older children didn't like it to much before the upgrades..now when we go they tells us they'll meet us up there. They love it.
I gave my good friends a long weekend in a yurt and they returned this past Sunday.
They pretty much echoed everything already said - the resort is in great shape, plenty of horses, everything in great working order, friendly staff, beautiful countryside. They also loved the yurt and found it to be very comfortable and beautifully appointed.
Their only negatives -
at the end of the day it's still a tent and you have to remember that. Don't look for soundproofing here. They could hear EVERYTHING coming from the neighboring yurt and those guests were not party animals - just normal volumes for TV and talking and snoring.
they suggest that you not eat at the resort - food not as good as what you can get elsewhere. They saw this advice online at a travel site and found it to be true.
But after all of this - they want to go back during leaf season next year!!!
