  • Bluegreen Online - I'm impressed.

I purchased a fixed week (that floats) off eBay and it closed and I received the letter from Bluegreen that it had been transferred to my name. The letter had my owner number on it. I don't recall saying that I was already a Bluegreen owner. I guess BG did a search to see if I was already an owner.

I logged in to BGonline for the first time since the new week was put in my name and got a screen saying I had multiple account types and asked me to pick the vacation club or the fixed week. I was impressed. Once in I can use the drop-down list on the upper left to switch between Vacation Club and Fixed ownership. I like it. I didn't realize the website would act this way. Nice.

Dues for everything shows up and when I click on the 'payment balance' link it has everything broken out for all the deeds. Nice again.

Bluegreen's website has won many awards. It's very good.

I just spoke to the people in charge of the website at the annual meeting and they are going to do a big update to it this coming year to make it even better.

      Questions about Online Booking

I booked a stay at Big Cedar online the other day, and I would like to know how I can find out exactly what unit I will have. That is pretty much why I liked calling and speaking with a rep., so that we could discuss the various units available and I could pick one based on my experience. That seems to be a feature that was left out. Does anyone have any information on this?

Technically, even if you talk to a rep and request a particular unit (or particular subtype), you're not guaranteed it. I'm guessing they don't have that as part of the on-line system because it would give people the idea that they CAN request a particular unit and get it. All the representative can promise is to note it and then the resort will do their best. Although the representative could note the request and the fact that there are units of the type you want available, which would be a help I'd think.

I tend to call the resort direct a few weeks before check-in to verify anything special anyhow, which you could do with an on-line reservation. We've been calling in any reservation where we've got a particular request, and then making on-line reservations where we don't (which means we've only made one on-line even though I think we've made four since we've had the on-line option ).

I have had varying results getting a unit that i have specified when calling Bluegreen to book a vacation week. Every resort is different and I'm sure it all depends on how high or low demand is at a particular resort. Foe example, I have been booked in the exact unit and building I have asked for when going to "Harbour Lights" in Myrtle Beach. Three times in the last four years to be exact. But on the other hand I have been burned several times at The Hershey Suites as we visit their every year. Hershey is always booked solid and is a very high demand resort compared to Harbour Lights, which seems to always have units available to book. Sometimes it is nice to speak directly with someone from Bluegreen who can answer your question etc...
