  • Bluegreen Fog

My name is Ben, I am a new member here. I would like to say hi to everyone here at the forum. I am glad I stumbled upon this community. I am from Connecticuit, so the closet BlueGreen resort is in Pennslyvania or about five hours drive.
Besides that, my family for the past five years, have been going to visit the inlaws in Arkansas ever since they relocated. It has since been a tradition to go every year and I can see it being that way for a long time. We fly in from Connecticuit and my brother inlaw and sister inlaw flies in from California. We usually stay there for about two weeks. We try to find somewhere to stay either the first week or the last week that we are there.
This year, in June 2009, my sister and brother in law, both lost their job when Circuit city closed down. So, they gave us the oppertunity to use their BlueGreen points. We stayed at the BlueGreen Long Creek resorts in Ridgedale, MO.(Which is an hour away from my inlaws place.) It was amazing, but that is another story.
Now my question. How do I buy? I looked at ebay. Is that an option? I want to get the most for my money. Should I buy somewhere were matianence fees are low and just use my ponts for the Long Creek resort? Any advide or a "noob" guide I should look at? Anything I should stay away from or look for?
I appreciate everyone's time. Thank you.

    Welcome to our Bluegreen Forum

    Link about purchasing Bluegreen Points

    Hello Ben,

Welcome to the Bluegreen Forum. I moved your initial thread from Timeshare Economics to the Bluegreen Forum so that you will get more responses.

The link above is one that we created to discuss options for purchasing Bluegreen points. In addition, I will send you a private message further describing your options for purchasing points.

The one thing that is new in purchasing Bluegreen points is that as of Aug 21, 2009, the only points that will count toward Premier are those purchased directly from Bluegreen or an authorized reseller. If you are interested, you can contact me and I will explain to you the options, pros and cons of all approaches for purchasing Bluegreen points. There are lots of strategies you can use to acquire points.

Hang around in the forums and post all of your personal questions here. You will get lots of feedback from owners who can help you eliminate the "fog"

        Welcome

Hi, Ben. This forum is a great place to get information about Bluegreen and other timeshare systems. And I second the advice that if you buy from Bluegreen, Boca is a great and trustworthy resource.

Did you look at Big Cedar while you were staying at Long Creek? They are both wonderful facilities and represent some of the best Bluegreen has to offer. I travel to Big Cedar multiple times a year and really love it.

Some things I love about BG are:
        - the proximity of Big Cedar to me
        - the ability to travel in less than a week increment
        - the relatively low maintenance fees

        Good luck.

        Anita

There is also a resort in Atlantic City. There will soon be a resort in Lincoln, New Hampshire and another in Cape Cod. Plus there is another resort in New England through Select Connections and right off hand, I can't remember which state it is in. The one in Hershey still may be the closest to you but I wanted to call these others to your attention also.

Points to stay at Long Creek are very high compared to other Bluegreen Resorts. You will probably be very pleasantly surprised! Welcome to this board. Another useful one you might find is the Bluegreen Yahoo group.
