  • Wilderness Club Lodge

I'm new to BG and wanted to see if anyone could give me some pointers on the wilderness club. I was able to get a partial week in the first week of August and I will be staying in Unit Number ........ 2445C Accommodates 8. Its a 2 bed... I think there is mutilable lodges and not sure how many. Has anyone stayed in this one or just at the wilderness club here and what can i expect. I'm thinking it the 2nd floor. How close am i to the pool/lazy river. I've already learned that some resorts i will need to plan as far out as my level of points will allow cause this is about 10 month and i could hardly get in and its only a partial week.

We will also be there the first week of Aug, of course, so will a half million other people. Okay, not that many. The resort is big, has multiple lodges and cabins. We were last there in 2006 and more lodges were being built at that time.

One of the really nice things about the resort is the transportation. Like the Enterprise car commericials, they pick you up. Give them a call and they send a van to your lodge to take you anywhere on the property. So it really doesn't matter where you are, as long as you can get to where you want to be. Want to play mini golf, they take you, going to the pool, they take you. Going into Branson to see a show, sorry, you drive yourself.

Another thing that is a plus, the cookie ladies. Fresh cookies come to you each night. I do hope cut backs have not eliminated those little goodies.

How did you get your reservation

This leads me back to a question I had in a different thread. How did you make your reservation so that you know exactly what lodge number you are getting. Did you speak to a representative, or did you do the online booking. I am just curious because I like the idea of reserving a particular unit and I dont see how it is possible with the new online booking.

              It has to by phone.

Of course, you aren't actually guaranteed that unit. If the air conditioning goes out right before you get there and it can't be fixed in time, you will have to be put somewhere else. And if you reserved a full week, they might also have to change some partial week reservations to give you your full week.

I also believe they diddle with units if they have a significant number of empty unit/days so that they can get the largest number of unit/days filled. If I have reserved a particular unit and I get moved, I don't like that practice. If the resort appears full but it actually isn't (and their diddling creates a time slot for me by moving you), then I like that practice.

20 years and more than 100 exchanges and I don't believe we ever got a diddled unit, not that we could tell.

JLB, I am sure at least one of your units has been diddled, not that I could prove it.

Well, I have never smelled diddle, so wouldn't know it if I did.

Acutally, in 106 exchanges I can't recall that we have ever not gotten the unit exchanged for, when it was for a specific unit. In most of our exchanges, which is to places we are familiar with, the specific unit is important to us . . . Or was back when we could actually get exchanges through RCI.

Just got back from Big Cedar, Overall a great stay. I loved the cookie lady, Very nice surprise. However, Two suggestions...

Bring ice trays or plan to drive to the club house to BUY ice. (I found out the hard way.) Trip to club house when its 22 degrees is no fun.

If INTERNET is a must, plan on paying 7 dollars a night. Very sad about this one.

I feels its better to know in advance so expectations are not set too high.

Other that that it is very nice.
