  • DRI The Club Select - some questions

If I deposit another of my timeshares into The Club Select, I get a certain number of points added to my current account. From what I understand those Select points cannot, and are not required to be, saved into next year like annual points. Is this correct?

    Also, does that mean that
    1) my Select points will or won't expire if not used by end of year?
    2) which points (annual or Select) will be used first for booked vacation?
    3) vacations booked with Select points require a full-week stay?

    Club Select

    Bernie,

I would check with DRI Customer Service to check on these. However, this is what I know. I have used club select but never turned in my properties. I was told, as there is nothing written anywhere about Club Select, that you have only one year to use the points. I am not sure if they distinguis the points other than you having to use a certain amount of points within that 12 month period.

You do not have to take a full week. Only if you use the points for a reservation that is Club Select property do you have to use a full week. Otherwise, you can use your points any way you wish like other points.

I have been getting educated about Diamond Resorts and The Club Select in dribs and drabs from phone calls to DRI and the DiamondResorts-Owners Yahoo Group (like a forum).

My current understanding (subject to change) is that
      1) Club Select points - from depositing another timeshare - are treated exactly the same as annual points. Can use, save, or lose exactly like annual points.
      2) Any points (annual or Select) saved to the following year cannot be carried forward to the subsequent year.
      3) Vacations booked from The Club Select are strictly in weeks, just as they were deposited by various members.

I deposited another timeshare into Select a few weeks ago, got an email a few days ago that the deposit was accepted and how many points I am getting for it, made an online payment to DRI of $119, and am waiting to see the points added to my account.

Today I wanted to get the real "skinny" on Diamond Resort's The Club Select.

First I went to the Select web pages, select.diamondresorts.com, and logged in and there one can search for availabilities in a similar manner to doing it on DRI's regular online/search site. It states there that All availability is listed for 7 night stays.

Next I did a search for an opening. The resort that turned up had a link which took me to some information on Interval International's site.

Next I phoned DRI's main number to get a further understanding and learned:
        • Resorts are deposited by DRI members for points.
        • They could have been the member's own week or have been deposited with RCI or II.
        • As I said above, they are for full week(s).

Also, like regular DRI reservations, you can only reserve a Club Select week using points from the same year in which the Club Select reservation starts.

E.g., if you have some points left over in your DRI account for this year that you cannot save, you can't use those leftover points for a Club Select reservation in the following year. They would only be good for a Club Select reservation for this year.
