But it's only at select resorts, at least for now. Also keep in mind that this is an Elite member benefit for Silver, Gold and Platinum THE Club members.
Dear Valued Member of THE Club® at Diamond Resorts International®,
We are pleased to announce the introduction of free WiFi Internet access at select resorts for our Silver, Gold and Platinum Diamond Loyalty(SM) members.
Free WiFi Internet access is now available in the accommodations and resort lobby areas at the following resorts:
Free WiFi Resort Locations
Bent Creek Golf Village
Desert Paradise Resort
Grand Beach
Greensprings Vacation Resort
Lake Tahoe Vacation Resort
Scottsdale Links Resort
Scottsdale Villa Mirage
Sedona Summit
The Historic Powhatan Resort
The Ridge on Sedona Golf Resort
The Suites at Fall Creek
Villas de Santa Fe
Free Internet Access
Kaanapali Beach Resort
The Point at Poipu
I'm glad to see that the Villas de Santa Fe and The Suites at Fall Creek are on the list as we plan on visiting those two resorts either this year or next. I'm a little disappointed that Polo Towers isn't on the list. Our timeshare and other photo's at http://dougp26364.smugmug.com/

What is the difference between:
"Free WiFi Resort Locations"
and
"Free Internet Access"
I just upgraded my 3G wireless card to a 4G card this morning, so I would not benefit from this newest benefit BUT it is a good show from DRI in showing its appreciation for its elite members.EMAIL me if you wish, do NOT PM

BTW, does this offer extend to guests whether or not they are staying with us? Two examples:
1) we reserve two separate units at resort A, but we stay in unit 1 and our friends stay in unit 2
2) we reserve one unit at resort B for our friends to get away for the weekend but we do not travel with them.EMAIL me if you wish, do NOT PM

I applaud DRI to offering different benefits for elites (e.g. less expensive upgrade costs, wifi, etc.)EMAIL me if you wish, do NOT PM

I am at The Historic Powhattan. The front desk rep needed to be reminded of the benefits of free wifi in the room for elite members. It does not sound like many members ask for the code at the desk (either because not many are elites or the elites do not know of this new benefit).
I would think at check-in time, the front desk and/or concierge would enthusiastically mention this perk to elite members. THAT would make an elite member feel special !EMAIL me if you wish, do NOT PM

When we stayed at Powhattan, we paid for the wifi. It was $29.99 for the week. Quite a bargain compared to the hundreds of extra dollars we would spend on MFs and points sales (even resale) to reach the level needed for free service. For those traveling with a group however, keep in mind this cost is per computer. There were 9 of us in a 4 BDRM and 4 had computers. So we shared one computer for the internet access.

Originally posted by bnoblePowhatan's service is provided by AT&T---which means if you have an iphone (or similar) that uses AT&T's cell network you can also use the wifi for free with that device. And, that's a good thing, because AT&T coverage at the resort was *very* spotty.
Normally, we don't even bother with internet access - I'd rather not be tethered to work or obligations during vacation. But I was in the middle of contract negotiations with a client and needed to stay on top of things.

We stayed at both the Kaanapali Beach Club and Point at Poipu in May this year and the wired internet was available at both. We just signed on as though we were going to pay and the charges were removed at the end. I do appreciate that, even though the cost of elete status is much greater. We use all of our points and I feel that we get good value. I expect that after we retire, we can make the points go a lot further because of the added flexibility on our part.
On a side note, the parking at KBC was free for owners and Poipu did not charge. Are there any other places where you are charged for parking? That would be nice to know when planning a trip.
