  • Question for anyone who deposits a DRI resort into II

Does DRI allow you to choose your exact dates to deposit into II? The last two years they have given me a three month window from when I called and denied any deposit after that window. Also they do the depositing into my II account for me. I can not do it.

This just not seem right to me. I don't know what I can do about it other than gather others experiences.

(This is for those that own weeks and not points)

If you own a deeded week and choose to deposit to II i would expect it to be the week of your choice. However many developers do say THEY get to pick not you. I don't know if DRI is one of those as I will not use II for weeks deposits and if I use SFX or RCI they only take the week I can prove I hold the reservation for. I can pick any available week to take as the reservation for deposit to those groups. At Wastegate they also claim the right to deposit the week of their choice - not the owners - even for FIXED WEEK OWNERS! II lets them get away with that. Again, RCI doesn't & they will only accept & verify my deeded, fixed week as they should.

The real problem, if there is one, is the general II disregard for members in favor of developers. I'll never understand why paying II members put up with it.

I have deeded weeks at Sedona Springs and San Luis Bay Inn and am also a member of DRI. If I reserve my home unit, DRI has no control of my deposit. I have deposited Sedona Springs at II with no problem. It may be an issue of using points to reserve and deposit. I have never done that since it takes too many points to get a decent week.

There are some bulk-banking resorts, including the old Embassy resorts that are now part of DRI, that do not allow members to select the week that gets deposited into an affiliated exchange company. "Affiliated" means that the resort has a direct relationship with the exchange company - which will almost always be RCI and/or II. But in some cases it includes SFX where the resort has affiliated wth SFX. Point at Poipu is one resort that has (or had) an affiliation relationship with SFX.

When depositing to an independent exchange company, however, you reserve a week and deposit that week with the company.

The merits and demerits of this bulk-banking approach have been discussed frequently in the past. In short, whether or not someone thinks it's a good idea depends on whether one believes the resort should give highest priority to owners who plan to use their weeks at their resort.

        “You shouldn't wear that body.”

I have a floating week 2BR at the Villas of PT. Im going to deposit into SFX for the first time next week. I'll have to see how that goes.

Well I deposited into SFX without issue. I was really surprised because of the trouble they give me with II. It really doesn't make sense at all the way they do work with II. Must be a payoff.

I deposited a reservation for 2011 with SFX. If I could do this with II I would have stayed with II to see if I received better trading power. Im excited to try out SFX though and see if I can ditch II altogether at some point.

Before joining THE Club points program with DRI, I routinely had to argue with reservations to get them to deposit the week I wanted. Their arguement was exchange power was equal amoung all weeks since Vegas is red time for all 52 weeks. My comeback was, if there's no difference in weeks, then you won't mind depositing the week I choose rather than the week you choose. In the end I always managed to get them to deposit the week I wanted deposited. I resented having to haggle with them to get the job done.
