  • Giving 3500 pts away

We have 3500 pts in the Hawaii collection and are looking to get rid of them. Is anyone interested?

The catch is the maintenance fees, the fact that 3500 points alone does not get you into a DRI property in Hawaii and if you're a Hawaii collection member you are limited to only that collection of resorts and not all of DRI's properties.

This would only be good for a DRI owner. However, it is perfect for those already own in the Hawaii collection and you just would want more points in that collection.

        Joel,

I don't currently have any buyers for a small allotment such as this, but I do have a rental offer that might put a couple hundred back in your pocket. Go to the top right of the page to the link that says private messages and click on it.. You'll see an email from me.

indeed it is hard to get into any resort for a week in the Hawaii collection however there is the option of saving points and using them the following year.

I'm not sure what your talking about when you say that we are limited to only the Hawaii collection because we do in fact have access to all of DRI's properties through the CLUB. If anyone gets the points and brings them into the CLUB they would also be able to use all DRI's properties.

Here's the deal. There are only two properties in DRI's system in Hawaii that will take 3500 points. First, they are studios not one bedrooms. Secondly, they are at properties that no more than 5 units available to DRI owners because they are affiliated resorts so availability will be extremely limited especially with one of them, Fairway Villas, being in Honolulu close to Waikiki. The rest of the properties in Hawaii require a minimum of 4000 points, so basically if one wants to go to Hawaii they will be able to go every other year if they save points. Now I know that the Hawaii collection has a couple of other properties not in Hawaii, but I can't remember which ones they are. Maybe those may require less points, but generally if one is going to use timeshares, they usually want a one bedroom instead of a studio. Otherwise they could rent and save money.

As for access to all of DRI's resorts. Yes, you bought your points from Diamond, so you have access to all of the resorts in the Club. However, if you sell those 3500 points to someone else, the new owners would only have access to the resorts in the Hawaii Collection and not all of DRI's resorts. If the new owners want to belong to the Club, they will have to pay DRI additional money or buy additional points.

Someone asked what was the catch. The catch is that 3500 points is not enough points if a person is looking to travel annually to Hawaii resorts with the type of amenities usually found in a timeshare resort. I am merely stating that there are big limitations. Without a doubt more points would need to be purchased to take full advantage of the DRI system and to be able to access all of DRI's resorts.

If you're thinking of taking ownership of DRI Hawaii points be aware of the massive maintenance fees from the Point at Poipu special assessment. I suspect you could get a lot of "free" points from DRI Hawaii owners right now as a result of that assessment.
