If you're talking retail, I think the "going rate" is about $4/pt, I've heard of $6/pt and I've seen much lower. The more points you ante up for the lower the price/pt. If you're talking resale, without THE Club, the basement is the limit.

I would really like to see some analysis of the points business model especially relating the club and non-club $/pt. Current emphasis is on using points as your vacation currency. I am still trying to understand when this makes the most sense.

Is $4 per point the lowest or can you purchase points for $1.00 per point ?.

10 years ago you could get developer points for close to $1/pt if you bought enough. I don't think you'll get them for significantly less that $4 today, but we've not had many reports lately and i don't go to DRI presentations.

I have both a club account and an account limited to one of the trusts.

Took a tour a few weeks ago and was offered in the $3.60/pt range as the "special one-time offer" pricing. We were quoted the going rate of $6 per point.

We were offered 4000 pts for somewhere around $14,500....."heavily discounted from the original price of $24,000."

Of course we were also told that maintenance very rarely go up, and if they do it is usually only a "few dollars" a year. I believe maintenance fees were in the $900-1000/yr range.

My ex just returned from a LTVR stay a few days on my points. She and her sig-other went through the tour and were offered a similar final deal just under $3.60/point. When she TXT'd me about the deal I reminded her she can use my points anytime just reimbursing my M&T for the points used.
My last Owners Update included signing off (saying no) on buying any more at just about $2.25/point and keeping that price for the future. Thats what I got my last 2500 at in 2009 (my only points purchased thru the developer) which rolled in ALL prior (resale) contracts I had including one for points assumed for just taking on the M&T.
But as I've mentioned before, I'd consider dropping way back in points if DRI would just take them back.
(and they want me to slowly build up to Platinum Level so I can "retire" at their resorts in another 7-1/2 years)
