There is more than one type of ownership with Diamond DRI.

    There are:

    1. Traditional deeded week owners (both fixed and floating weeks)
    2. Deeded week owners who have bought into a points overlay,
    internal exchange system called
    THE Club
    3. Trust based owners whos ownership is pure points.

Each has it's advantages and disadvantages.

Talked to someone yesterday briefly, that told me she went
to Williamsburg for a week this past summer. She stayed at
Powhatan Plantation and went on their (sales) presentation.

Somehow, she was talked into trading in a Cape Cod week,
Fairfield/Wyndham St Thomas Studio in the Virgin Islands &
an off season Virginia Beach week in exchange for DRI Points.

Please explain how the DRI trade in system works..
Will it help her save on yearly fees, exchange fees.
She did not tell me "how much it cost her" to get in.
She is a widow and a senior that does not use the internet often, but will check in to read the replies.

You've been around long enough to know that more details are needed or it's all wild speculation, and your 'quote' has no bearing on your question. There's not been any reports here or there of DRI playing the trade-in game as if they were a Mexican or Dominican Republic timeshare sales team.

Club Select is DRI's program where you can "trade-in" the annual use of your current timeshares for DRI points each year, just my speculation, and they're still responsible for all their MFs. You can see the trade-in inventory available to the public for $ and to THE Club members for less$ or points at the link provided.

How many points did she get and what did it cost her? I own points with DRI. At my last update at Greensprings DRI offered to take my Va beach 1 bedroom unit off my hands and in if I bought 4000 points for $8000. The unit is registered with the club select so can be deposited for $120 each year and I get 6500 points. I realize DRI is in business to make money, but that offer was ludicrous. Quick calculations told that fewer point for more money was not going to happen. I would take me over 60 years at $120 dollars a year to spend $8000 and would get 1500 point less each year.

        Diamond Resorts

All I know is that she said,
she traded in a Cape Cod week,
Fairfield/Wyndham St Thomas Studio in the Virgin Islands & an off season Virginia Beach week in exchange for DRI Points.

What did DRI sales staff have to
        offer at Powhatan this summer?
