Lake Tahoe Reservation Advise

Hi-

We recently closed on an EOY (odd) at the Lake Tahoe Resort (formerly Embassy). Since this is new to us, what advise does anyone have for us? I called yesterday and they still had some summer weeks-but they said they are going quickly. For next year, we were thinking of trying for Christmas week-the reservation agent advised me to call at midnight a year before that week starts and leave a message on their answering machine. Quite frankly, I'm a little concerned that I miss the right date to call, too many others called before me, etc. Has anyone done this? We would probably go there, but may rent the week. (We have 3 younger kids, so Tahoe in the winter may be too much work for us next year-we'll have to see.)

I would call back and confirm when you need to call. What you might want to do is fine out the cancellation charge, go ahead and reserve a summer week then if you get the Christmas Week, cancel the summer. Let us know what you find out. We have always gotten summer or fall weeks and have not tried for a Christmas week, there. My understanding is that for a Christmas week, you would call on December 23, 2006 for December 22, 2007, but like I said, I would call them back and ask them if I want December 22, 2007 do I call at 12:01 AM on December December 23, 2006.

Call on 21st for Xmas week beginning on Fri.

Sorry for the late reply-I checked today and was told to call on Dec 21st for 2007 Xmas week-assuming you want to check in on the Fri before Xmas. She also specified at 12:01am the 21st and leave a message on their machine (meaning stay up late on the 20th-I verified). She was very nice and also said they will call you back the next day (meaning the 21st, during the day) to let you know they got the message and you got the week. The great thing about the Fri, Sat, or Sun check-in is that if you forget on he 21st, you get 2 more shots! I will be up at the Tahoe Beach and Ski Oct 21-28, so I will probably try to swing by and will again make sure. If anything different, I will post.

Did they give you a direct number for reservations or do you just call the regular number?

Thank you for a great question-I called and got a reservation direct # 800-737-9884. They said that line has a ans machine when res closed.
