  • Usage of Club Sunterra re-sale points

I am a member of Club Sunterra and am considering purchasing re-sale points from a real estate company at a good price. The realtor has told me that Sunterra officially claims the points can only be used at one of the 19 resorts in CSV-1 trust or exchanged with II. I would like to know anyone else's experience on purchasing re-sale points. Are they only limited to the trust or can they be used for the affiliated Club Sunterra timeshares?

Unfortunately the experience is that you won't get the same answer twice and, from everything I can find out, you will pay money to make anything you purchase of value in any Sunterra system again. Just exactly how the newer trust based points work if sold are even more of a mystery but at best they would work within the trust system. No way would they work with the non-trust resorts or the older non-trust Club.

They make it very very hard to buy resale - by design I'm sure.

If you buy Trust points they are usually old EPIC resorts based or the CSV-1 Club Sunterra Vacations - 1. The current owner probably has them in Club Sunterra, all ~98 resorts, and could be unaware of their status when sold to you. The Trust points you buy will be good only at the 19-21 Trust Resorts also called the Florida Trust. There is a list in the stickies.

You're already a Club Sunterra member but that doesn't matter. You will be directed to one of the sales centers to bring your new purchase into the Club and they will tell you that you have to buy more points to accomplish this, 2000-3000 for $5-7K. I have then name of someone at corporate who will do a single propery for $2995. The 'advantage' of the sales center is you can usually do multiple properties and negotiate other 'perks.'
