I found a great sunterra select resort for my son as a honeymoon present. Is there no way to get around paying double for it with his name on it. As I understand I cannot use our points for it either.

For whatever reason, Sunterra Select is not set up to put an alternate guest's name on a reservation. When you talk about paying double, I guess your talking about the fact that a non-member can book in their own name but the cash rates are around double what a Club Member pays.

What I would do if there was something I really wanted for my son for a honeymoon present in Sunterra Select... call the resort and try to talk to someone knowledgeable in reservations or management, explain how you're booking the week and ask them if a letter from you and a copy of the confirmation faxed to the resort would work to let the guest check in. My guess is that this would be a viable work around.

      Just as a side note...
Anyone can book Sunterra Select resorts Welcome to SunterraSelect (these are non-Sunterra resorts that owners have 'deposited' like FF/W PIC and RCI PFD). Members can pay SunOptions or $, and the $ price is less than half what non-members pay, you'd almost be a fool to use SunOptions with the great cash prices for members!

Thanks Spence, Sunterra Select does give you the options to list your adult guests that are accompanying you, so I called the resort and asked ....if the sunterra owners were not able to make it, would the additional guest be able to check in and use the week and they said yes, as long as their name was on the reservation. Is this enough assurance?

I'd say so, but I'd have the name, position, and phone number of the person at the resort that said so, in my pocket!
