10 Month Club Reservation Window

Clarification . . .

I think I was wrong about the specific date/time to make super important club reservations.

Say I want a Royal Dunes 3BR for 7 days for JUL05 2008. Up till now, I thought I would sign-onto the system and make such a reservation at 3am on Sept 6th. I now think this may be incorrect.

Yesterday, I was signed onto Club Sunterra and searching for reservations. I got a reply from the system saying that without ownership, I could not see weeks until 10 months out from the DEPARTURE DATE of a potential reservation. This would seem to indicate that the day for me to make reservations would be SEPT 13 at 3am.

And the verdict from the experts is???

10 months prior to Jul 12, 2008 is Sept 12, 2007. So, sit in front of your computer 11:59PM Sept 11, 2007. Once midnight strikes 12, log on and make your reservation.

...are you saying 10 month window starts count from the CHECK-IN date and not the CHECKOUT/departure date? Two CS reps said it is the checkout date. This jives with the following (page 8) from the Sun Options Booklet (2007):
Standard Reservations
Club Members may begin requesting
reservations at a resort at which they do
not have a Home Resort or Home Club
Advantage beginning 10 months prior to
the check-out date.

If from CHECK-IN date, why would it not be Sept 5th (you said Sept 6th) ???

I have now seen this work both ways, I think! Don't know why. I have in the past reserved many, many weeks at 12months before check-in using HRA. I went to reserve a 10month reservation today at a resort that I don't own at and it showed available online but then would not let me book. A call to customer service then said that they couldn't book either until 10months prior to check-out. With all that, I would still try 10months prior to check-in, you never know.

What time zone does the booking reservation system work off of? That would be an important fact to know if you believe that you must be in front of your computer at the very moment reservations become available online.

BTW, everything I've read indicates you book from your check out date but, it never hurts to try.

That makes it a little harder on me then. I'd have to be at the computer around 2:00 AM. I guess being a night shifter might come in handy one or two weeks a year.
