  • Week 14 Powhattan - Peak or Low ?

A 4 bd week 14 Powhattan is considered Peak season in 2007 but Low season in 2008. If converting this week to Club Sun for Sun Options, how many will a person be getting, 15000 (for Peak) or 6000 (for Low) ?

Here's the history... in the old days they used to give Peak points for Wk 13/14/15 or something like that. I have a Wk15 that I get Peak points for. They finally figured out that Easter was too big a moving target. Now you get Low points BUT if the Peak week happens in the week that you own you may book it for Low points, you're grandfathered. This only helps you with that resort, not others. July 4th is about 50/50 Wk26&27 both get Peak and Thankgiving is Wk 47 about 6of7 years as Xmas is Wk51 and New Years is Wk52 about 6of7 years.

      Week 53 ?

When, if ever, do week 52 owners get a week 53 as well?

Frank, Powhatan Wk52 owners always get a chance at Wk53. If I remember correctly you have to pay an extra MF to use it.

That's what I thought, but perhaps the most recent one was just before I bought my unit. How do you determine when the next one will occur? Do you have to request the extra week or do they notify you to ask if you want it?

Look at any TS calendar like this one. You gotta know what day of the week your Wk52 starts on, the next occurance is
            Friday 2010
            Sarurday 2011
            Sunday 2012

Yes, you have to request is my experience.

So, what's the verdict - does booking week 47 mean you need to pay peak or non-peak points? (week 47 is peak in 2007, but low in 2008)

You pay to rent by what the SunOptions book says. Sunterra doesn't do a very good job of keeping track where Thanksgiving falls.

We own week 52 at Powhatan, Sunday to Sunday, and got week 53 last year, 2006. There was no charge but we did have to tell Powhatan and receive a confirmation number before we were secure with going. Week 53 occurs every 7 years. This year, 2007, we deposited the week for points but didn't receive any bonus points for the week 53. Actually week 53 was an awesome week. The resort was very quiet with very few residents. We got NY eve. in Williamsburg and love their "First Night". Colonial Wms. had reduced prices, and Jamestown was putting on the finishing touches for Jamestown 400.
