I'm sort of surprised that Thanksgiving week would be considered "peak" season in Vegas. I'm not so certain that weeks 13 and 14 would be peak unless that's the week that the final four falls on. I suspect they're thinking spring break. While weeks 13 & 14 are nice weeks to be in Vegas it's hardly worth the extra points IMHO.

I find the points required for a studio in either the Villa's or the Suite's to be ridiculous. You're not looking at much more than a hotel room with a 3/4 bath if you decide to stay in one of those. They are very small. One year after we first became owners we decided to split our unit and use the one bedroom side for one week and the studio side for the next. It was the first and LAST time we ever tried that move. They are not condusive to a week long vacation and especially not for 6,000 - 9,000 points. Club Sun members will be extremely dissapointed that they spent those kinds of points for a week in one of PT's studio units IMO.

Plus, it's a rip off to those that own at PT's. If they don't convert they can still use both sides for 2 weeks vacation if they want. If not, post refurb they will be able to LO their units and exchange the studio unit (some units can already do this and all Villa's units can already do this). If owner DO convert they will not have enough points to get two weeks vacation in their own resort in their own deeded week like they could before joining Club Sun. Not exactly a strong selling point if you ask me.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Welcome to the whacky world of DRI.

Yes I've converted to Club Sun but I was already well aware of the turbulent and unpredictable changes DRI was likely to bring to the table. For me I'm just taking advantage of the situation or making the most of a bad situation.

The way that Sunterra handled a similar issue in Hawai'i was to create a waiver allowing owners who affiliate with the Club to retain all of the reservation and usage privileges they have with their deed, regardless of SunOptions received. It's probably worth negotiating for.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

      “You shouldn't wear that body.”

I call that 'grandfathering' and have seen it done several times in similar cases.

I need 10000 points for a two bedroom in my home resort Sedona Ridge. For 6500 points and an exchange fee, I can go to Sheraton, Royals and Marriotts, which is why I have not returned to Arizona for 6 years.

There are definately ways to manipulate this or any points system. It's actually cheaper in points for me to exchange back into my home resort (suites and villa's at Polo Towers) than to make a home resort reservation. Polo Towers isn't the most difficult exchange to make with I.I.

The only problem could be that Vegas has a regional block. Since I would be exchanging back into my home resort rather than into another resort that shouldn't be an issue.

Here's a question I hadn't thought about asking yet. Since Vegas has a regional block with I.I. but I'm exchanging Club Sun points rather than my deeded week, can I use my Club Sun points to exchange into other Vegas resorts such as the Marriott or the new Westgate? If I can do that then I can actually trade up into newer, nicer resorts at a lower point cost than making a home reservation for Polo Towers. It actually might be nice to do this just to see what the new Westgate resort is like once it's open for occupancy.

Well now that makes life in Club Sun just a little more interesting. I'm definately not a big Westgate fan but I am curious about what their new timeshare in Vegas will be like. Not curious enough to take one of their high pressure 2+ hour tours but maybe curious enough to exchange into their resort if I have a little extra time at some point to take off for maybe a long weekend.

One of the advantages of having almost more timeshare than I can us is to use some of it for long weekend trips to just to get away or to check things out.
